Not because he was in his prime. Coaches will tell you they lost sleep at night coming up with a plan to stop Kobe. In fact, teams would pray we ran the offense through Shaq because he had horrible touch outside of five feet and if you fouled him he was sure to piss his pants at the charity stripe. We ran the offense through Shaq during Kobes firsf three years and got embarrassed in the playoffs. It wasn't until Kobe said fuck this nigga... I'm taking over this ship that we began to win titles. Once Shaq accepted his role as the second option behind Kobe we were unstoppable. Kobe accomplished damn there as much without Shaq as he did with him.

Laker's best years were with Shaq. The Celtics didn't push LA's shit in while Shaq was there.

You lost all credibility when you were revealed to be a naruto loving faggot, now you continue to degrade your gay image with horrible basketball takes.

having shitty touch outside 5 feet of the rim ain't an insurmountable disadvantage for a big man though, and you can never expect to run the offense through a center the way you do with a guard. There were many guards back then (T-Mac, Carter, Ray Allen just to name a few) who would've got the job done just as well in Kobe's place, but there was only one Shaq and dude simply dominated that era.

^ Let's check the Finals stats because that's the only series that matters and because the Sixers/Nets were tougher to play against than the Spurs/Kings, Mr.Arbitrary.

This. 2000 Lakers won the Finals despite Kirby averaging 15.6 ppg on 36.7% shooting, AI,VC,T-Mac,Rip Hamilton,Marbury,Francis,Mobley would have all won with that roster, at least in 2000.

shaq was their leading scorer during the full length playoff runs as well.

:lol in 2001 the spurs starting lineup was Duncan, TOSB Robinson, Antonio Daniels, Tracy Porter, Derek Anderson. some stiff competition for Kobe there :cry

Really? Then why didn't he get it done with Penny? Once Kobe took over we were destined for success.
