I think we're gonna see 2-3 more weeks of our bet swinging back and forth and then it'll become pretty clear one way or the other what role he's gonna have and how well he's clicking with Manning. My hope is that Dressen coming back means Denver is gonna run a lot of ace formation on 1st and 2nd down while Moreno continues to be dependable.

What's the bet?
Over/under 1,000 yards. I have under Blake has over.

Darth_Pelican

Yeah that's going to be close. The Broncos will probably have home field throughout the playoffs wrapped up before the final game of the season, and will rest their starters, so that pace may even be less.

Very close bet. While Peyton uses him slightly more liberally in packages, he's pretty damn sharp early on and he looks like he will be heavily targeted because they have other beast options to worry about.

7 catches for 84 yards and a TD tonight

3 week totals: 19 catches for 190 yards and 4 touchdowns... putting him on pace for 101 catches, 1010 yards, 21 TD's. Clearly TD's won't sustain, but the rest could. DoK and Blake's bet could go down to the wire

spurraider21
09-29-2013, 06:50 PM
26 catches, 266 yards, and 6 touchdowns through 4 games.

16 game extrapolation: 104 catches, 1064 yards, 24 touchdowns

Gonna be really close.

spurraider21
10-06-2013, 09:14 PM
Welker with only 5 catches for 49 yards, but added yet another touchdown, bringing him to a 5 game total of...

31 catches, 315 yards, and 7 touchdowns.

16 game extrapolation: 99 catches, 1008 yards, and 22 touchdowns

spurraider21

Welker tacks on 6 catches for 63 yards and yet another TD... this bet is gna be ridiculously close :lol

6 game totals of 37 catches, 378 yards, 8 touchdowns. on pace for...

99 catches, 1008 yards (:lol projections for catches/yards didn't move by more than a couple of decimal points), 21 touchdowns

det would be funny if Welker ended up with 999 yards and 20 tds. The Bet is gonna be close all year imo.

just waiting for Welker to have that one big game to get some breathing room lol

Problem is that Peyton is spreading the ball for all

Pretty sure Blake won the Welker vs Amendola bet though :p

Amendola is made of tissue paper.

yeah I don't really know why we went to this bet.

The bet should have been based on Amendola to see just how expendable Welker was.

The Patriots' 5-1 record with Welker being only one of many key players they lost should tell you how expendable he was.

It's a shaky 5-1. Shit, I've been starting Rivers over Brady.

WRs as a position are generally expendable, but letting Welker go and bringing in Amendola still makes no sense.

The Patriots look especially foolish right about now.

spurraider21

The Pats squeaked by the first 2 weeks of the season. They were only close games because of the ineptitude of the receiving core. It's not just Welker though. They didn't replace gronk or Hernandez except with Sudfeld :lol

:lol "shaky" 5-1
:lol so far the only thing they've lost with Welker was moral victories over how "shaky" they look
:lol continuing to argue the strawman with me as if I said I agreed with replacing Welker with Amendola

Did those wins count for less because they "squeaked" them out :lol

I wasn't aware the Patriots had to worry about their BCS standings. Must not have gotten that memo.

The Pats are just fine without Welker, they don't look foolish for letting him go. They do look foolish for wasting money on any overrated slot receiver. Amendola was a stupid signing from the start, especially for almost the same price as Welker, and I said as much.

But they look really shaky and squeaky without Welker!

They might as well rename themselves the New England Squeaker-Shakers with all the squeaking and shaking!

So what was the point of this bet again?

It was regarding Welker being a product of Tom Brady. I said all along I'd take Welker over Amendola.

I'm all ears of you wanna cancel/amend the bet (I know you're ahead but it's basically a dead heat right now). A season long bet that's gonna come down to a few yards is pretty dumb imo.

That's what I meant, just didn't say it right.

Pats already had Edelman. Why spend that much cash on amendola? And if you're going to spend that much on a slot receiver, why not spend the extra couple million and keep the greatest slot receiver of all time?

The same reason Belichick cut someone most would consider a top 10 punter in the NFL in favor of a below average punter to save less than a million in cap space he wasn't gonna use. He over-obsesses with "value" instead of putting the best team on the field.

Yeah if they wanted to waste money on a slot receiver, and the choice was Amendola or Welker at roughly the same price, then there's no doubt Amendola was a stupid decision. But that doesn't change the fact that Welker is a horribly overrated player and that i'm still 100% happy he's not in NE anymore.

Also cutting Fells and Ballard because shit ass Sudfeld had a couple decent preseason games.

Ballard I agree but Fells fuckin sucked I didn't mind that at all.

I wish they had an undrafted free agent safety dominate the preseason so BB would have cut faggot ass Steve Gregory.

I think he ends with 1100+, but I'm cool with canceling.

If it were Avante, I'd say fuck no to the ol fuck to watch him Welch.

Nice strawman. Their poor play from the receiving core has been hindering their passing game. Trying to state otherwise is bullshit

everything patriots fans said about Welker was vindicated when he shit the bed against them this year. all along pats fans said you can't trust him in a big game/moment, and in the biggest game of the year for denver he played like shit.

i still find it funny that they "finally got rid of" Welker only to replace him with mini Welker (Edelman) and Welker 2.0 (Amendola) though

I hated the Amendola signing the moment it happened. Even moreso when it was for basically the same amount as Welker's deal. I didn't want Welker back and i'm still happy without him, but signing Amendola was a pointless waste of money.

^true. i recall you calling that move out the day the signing was announced, and you were right. i even think it was you who said they might as well roll with edelman in that role.
