Which version of "Don't Stand So Close to Me" is best, the original or the 1986 remake by the same artist(s)?

I used to not stand the remake but it has grown on me. It doesn't beat the original, though.

The remake is definitely edgier. They were originally going to remake all their hits but couldn't stand each other so that was the only one they finished. LOL

Actually, they were going to attempt to write a new album but it was bad. They did this remake to satisfy the record company.

I like the instrumental better in the new one, vocals better in the old one.

The remake is friggin' awesome. Is it better than the original, which is also awesome? That's the question.

They only made it through that song--barely--without killing each other. I thought it was a Sting interview on that. May have been Copeland.

Hmm. I don't see why Sting would want to make a redone greatest hits album. He was the reason it took more than 20 years to do a reunion tour. Sting's an ass but I love his music.

Well he referenced the 1986 release in the interview... Said the song is edgy and filled with hatred that came through in the music...

I wish they would remake Mexican Radio.
