Found this on Roby's wiki page :lmao

Roby attended the University of Iowa, where he played for the Iowa Hawkeyes football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_Hawkeyes_football) team from 1979 to 1982. Despite the fact that he had experience at quarterback (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarterback) and possessed a strong arm, Hawkeyes head coach Hayden Fry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayden_Fry) made the 6'4", 250-pounder a punter and kick-off specialist, also using him for long range field goals.

Racist Hayden Fry wasn't gonna put no jig at QB, tbh

Doesn't change the fact that his throws have been on the money of a majority of the night. Pryor wasn't the reason for tonight's loss. Pretty much the entire team played like shit outside of Pryor. Then again This Denver offense tends to make entire defenses look like shit

It's pretty clear that the Donks are the class of the AFC. They'll be favored in every game from here on out. Come playoff time, I still think Baltimore can get their shit together and will put up way more resistance than they did week 1, and if the Pats are fully healthy (which is a long shot) they would have a solid shot. This is nothing new, and a beat down on the Raiders isn't going to change anybody's perspective on the Broncos.

As for the Raiders, I honestly thought Pryor was the best player on the field in silver and black. The receivers had some painful drops, a couple of really great completions were called back due to penalties (that first offensive PI was complete bogus tbh), but Pryor looked really poised and was throwing some good balls from the pocket without having to resort to monkeyball on every play. The O-line was predictably shit, as most of our starters are hurt, and as was said on the broadcast, we are at our 4th left tackle. Thus, the run game got no traction, so it was all on Pryor's shoulders and I thought his showing was encouraging as hell. No turnovers. Does anybody think he can actually be "the guy" for the Raiders for a few years? Or is he doomed to the fate of all black qb's

The Broncos are a top 2 team, and the Raiders are probably considered a bottom 3 team and they still somehow managed to kinda stay in the game along with Pryor actually looking decent.

I liked a lot of the passes Pryor made last night because most black QBs feel the need to rifle the ball at their receiver every time and he had several passes that were thrown with finesse that hit the receiver in stride.

Idk if he's good enough for them to pass on Bridgewater if they get the pick but he's played really well imo.

Pryor has definitely been a pleasant surprise. Hopefully he keeps working hard. As you mentioned, him staying in the pocket and dropping his receivers those soft touch passes were very unexpected.

I'm not sure how much parody there is. I've never watched the NFL for humor or satirical purposes. But there certainly is alot of parity in the NFL today though.

We all knew Pryor is capable of making monkeyball plays, but his play from the pocket is what really has me intrigued. I went into the season thinking he'd be a fun 1-year stopgap. In a tank year, you might as well tank with an exciting qb. But I'm starting to come around. How he progresses through the season (keeping mistakes/turnovers low like the past 2 weeks) can actually earn him a full time gig. And this is with arguably the worst o-line in the league (our starting unit is decent, but as of now only our starting center is playing his position out there, and we are at our 4th LT :lol) which is generating no run game (putting even more pressure on Pryor) and with a mediocre receiving core.

I like Pryor. Honestly, I don't think the Raiders should draft a quarterback unless they see one who really think is going to be good for them (meaning that they don't just draft one to draft one like most of the teams have done recently). They can stand to take a talented lineman or two and let Pryor have another year. The team probably won't compete next season anyway. Worst case, Pryor sucks and the team can get a new quarterback in 2015.

Chinook
09-24-2013, 11:55 AM
But we have to remember that Pryor was Al Davis' last draft pick. Therefore, he has more going against him than just being a black quarterback or a spread quarterback.

Healthy Baltimore or Patriots could beat the Broncos in the playoffs. But look at you! Picking Game Manager Wilson to beat Manning in the superbowl. That 05 Bears defense is one of the best defenses we've seen since the '85 Bears, alongside the 2000 Ravens

I agree. They need to spend some picks addressing the interior of their offensive line, and still need to go out there and get a true #1 receiver. If Al Davis was still around you know for SURE they'd trade for Josh Gordon :lol. And that's just to solve their offensive woes...

How's the Raiders' cap going forward? I know they have a lot of hits from releasing players this year, but if they have room to address some of their needs in free agency (like sign Michael Oher to play one of the tackle spots and maybe Nicks or Britt), it could really help take pressure off the draft picks to play well early.

Also, it probably makes sense to trade McFadden if they get a good offer. He's a good back when healthy, but I can't see him being worth the contract he's going to get in the off-season.

The Raiders should have plenty of cap room to make moves in the coming offseason. about a third of their cap this year is dead money. they will also have McFadden coming off the books, and he's on his rookie contract paying him 10/year

:lol Seattle. Not with a game manager at QB. If the Saints D can stay this solid and keep holding teams to 21-17 points, they will be the lone exception to the Manning Bowl not happening should Peyton make it to New York. Peyton Manning is getting the Lebron James treatment except he already has a ring along with a signature moment during that run (07 AFCCG). The haters are actually thinking Russell Wilson is someone to trust even though his 2 playoff games were against pretty shitty defenses/QB's as well.
