I'll never forgive Hedo for chocking in the 2004 playoffs against the Lakers just like I'll probably never forgive Pop and Manu for costing us the 2013 NBA championship.

He played horrible in Euro Basket. I just don't think he's NBA caliber anymore.

I'd rather have Captain Jack back than Turkoglu.

Boiled down:

Captain Jack: 1
Turk: 0

Everyone thought SA was stupid for signing a fat and obviously 'done' Diaw a year and a half ago.

True mutli-skilled multi-position players are worth reclamation. I would absolutely take Hedo as a project and regular season minutes eater.

If I told you, I would have to kill you. Just kidding! :lol
It's actually too complicated to explain in a forum like this and would take way too long, seriously.
Besides, it is too boring to go into, but thanks for asking.

Over Young and/or Maggette?

I'd take an 85 or 90% Hedo over either Young or a current Maggette. He can do pretty much everything from bringing the ball up the floor to guarding Dirk.

I think it's moot, though. The buzz is that he's going back to Turkey to play. I think if there were a coach who could talk him into playing in the NBA again, it would be Pop.

If you can sign him, you do it.

Prior to Eurobasket I was on board with him joining the Spurs if he was bought out, but his play during Eurobasket wasn't just bad, it was terrible. I understand sometimes your shot isn't falling (he couldn't even hit wide open shots) but you have to do other things to fill the box score; such as rebounds, assists, etc and he wasn't.

Turkey even recognized this and he didn't play the final 2 games for Turkey.

Just curious, but who is your team now? The season is beginning to start and I'm sure you won't be watching Pop and Manu. So who?

Rekindle the Turkish magic...

Pop made a mistake getting rid of him in 2004...

Diaw had a great upside if he worked out well, size being one of them. Having size and being a good passer is another. Hedo? No. I was a big Hedo fan at first but when he inexplicably got traded from the Magic he sucked. That's a tell tale sign to me.

Hedo crapped himself in the playoffs and played so poorly against the Lakers that it cost us. We just needed him to be a little better than mediocre and that would have made a huge difference. After the series, it seemed like he just couldn't handle the pressure and wanted out immediately. I don't really want him back at all.

?? Hedo is taller than Diaw and is an excellent passer, and a better 3 point shooter.

We don't need Hedo for the playoffs, just to eat regular season minutes.

After 2004, Orlando threw a huge offer at him that the Spurs wouldn't match. They wanted him back, but not at that price. I think he wanted to come back, but as a young player, you don't turn your back on your first big contract. It had nothing to do with pressure, and everything to do with security.

Disagree. If the money was the same, I think he still would have picked Orlando.

He and Pop didn't see eye to eye apparently. He would have turned into a cancer on this team as bad as SJax and almost as bad as Rodman IMHO.

It actually wasn't his choice, so, so much for what you think. He was a RFA after his fourth year. The Spurs simply could have matched.

Says who? Never heard a word about Hedo being any kind of problem.

It was widely reported back then, and discussed on every Spurs forum.

That said, I do agree with what you said, but by the time he finally signed, he and the Spurs had already burned their bridges, there was no going back, even had the Spurs matched amounts offered, which was highly doubtful considering his play off disaster. They didn't part on friendly terms, maybe because the press got involved, or for whatever reasons we may never know.

It's looking kind of academic, anyway. The Magic and Turk's camp are in a staredown. He's guaranteed $6M this year, and the Magic are trying to get him to buy out lower than that. He ain't budging, and neither are the Magic. They can keep him on their 15 man roster until January, and keep him from playing for anyone else, foreign or domestic, until then. They're paying him, but also keeping him away from the team, meaning that he isn't even getting into shape and scrimmaging. We may have to wait until after the new year to re-visit this topic.

Hedo on the Spurs was essentially like Richard Jefferson in my book. Sounded good in theory, but what you saw on the court did not live up expectations. Would Hedo, older, and for the minimum make him any more attractive as an option for the Spurs? Probably not.
