THE STRANGE DEATH OF ZACHARY TAYLOR

The indisputable fact is this: Zachary Taylor, the twelfth president of the United States, died on July 9, 1850. The official version tells us that he died from being exposed to the July sun for too long and then eating cucumbers, cherries and/or iced milk. Some people say he was poisoned. You wouldn't know, from the mainstream sources, that the evidence of arsenic poisoning is pretty strong.

Taylor was relieved of his duties as general in the Mexican War becasue he was too nice to captured Mexicans; he let them go home if they promised not to fight again.

Zachery Taylor was the 2nd cousin of James Madison, they shared a common great-grandfather and great-grandmother.

In 1812, young captain Taylor won the first land battle of the war for the U.S. in the War of 1812.

Wrong, sort of. Taylor was seen as a hero by the American people and Polk viewed him as a political threat to a 2nd term iirc

Yes indeed. Another great and uber-unappreciated future President--Andrew Jackson--won the pivotal battle of that war (Battle of New Orleans). AJ also fought in the ARW as a kid. At least he's on the $20.

Polk never intended to run for a 2nd term, and didn't.

OK, that's good, we are on the same wavelength.
