What are the most underrated foods? One of my votes goes to tamales.

A very well made meat loaf. With all the trendy foods now, it's an old school staple that holds it's value but doesn't get a lot of attention.

My mom still makes the best one. Still have no idea what all she puts in it but it kicks ass.

I like it just as much as OP loves pickles imho because for someone who rarely eats meat or any animal products, such foods like tofu are the main sources of protein, which also contain various vitamins but no cholesterol
