What are the most underrated foods? One of my votes goes to tamales.

A very well made meat loaf. With all the trendy foods now, it's an old school staple that holds it's value but doesn't get a lot of attention.
My mom still makes the best one. Still have no idea what all she puts in it but it kicks ass.

Tofu is underrated too imho. You don't even need to chew it and it tastes very good if cooked the right way. I like it just as much as OP loves pickles imho because for someone who rarely eats meat or any animal products, such foods like tofu are the main sources of protein, which also contain various vitamins but no cholesterol

I've always loved Luby's liver and onion - never tried it with the bacon though.

I agree fully. That's what makes eating healthily (and that can still be tasteful, delicious) in a pervasive, toxic corporate food environment, so difficult.
But eating BigFood, BigAg garbage on taste alone, and much of it is not only mouth-pleasing but addictive, as researched by the corporate food/chemical scientists, is sickening and killing Americans and other countries following America's example.

It's possible to make fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy using all fresh and organic ingredients. The anti- big agriculture component seems premature.

Ha ha... Now fucking Snookie and Jwow are talking to him on Leno. What a fucking clusterfuck. As bad a Crystal is, this is like putting Jimmy Stewart next to Nelly. I like Nelly though. Next segment is Toni Braxton and Babyface (whatever the fuck that is ). Toni is hot though but why put Billy Crystal with these B list wops and such. No racist...but if Billy Crystal is your headline guest...what the hell...good thing for them I'm too lazy or drunk to look for the remote control because I think the Office is on. But Toni Braxton is still super hot so...
