The Denver Nuggets plan on playing "smashmouth basketball" under new head coach Brian Shaw.

"Smashmouth means that you are literally going to get your mouth smashed if you're going against us for a rebound or a loose ball," Shaw said. "We want to have a nasty disposition, both offensively and defensively."

they are gonna get fouled out fast. Nba's pussified rules makes bad boy style defense impossible now. Last year's bulls tried it but only to an extent.

Maybe he's saying this on purpose, just to intimidate their opponents? Of course they're not gonna swing their elbows on every play, but I bet they'll try to be as agressive as possible to dominate the other team on the boards every game.

They already have that mile high home court advantage. They shouldn't have to resort to the rough tactics.

They did used to call them the Thuggets at times in the mid 00's so this would not be new to them (When they had K mart etc.).

The Pacers and Grizzlies have built their success around physical basketball, relying on refs aiding them with reputation no-calls, tbh..they are by far the most ref-reliant teams in the league, despite not having superstars, so Shaw is making a good decision by building this type of team IMO..
