View Full Version : Baylor in the BCS title game?

Baylor has UT and OU both at home, and they have Tech at Jerryworld. Disgustingly enough, it's entirely possible that Baylor goes undefeated.

of course, if four teams go undefeated, Baylor would be #4 of those four........but it's still set up for them to have a good shot at it.

I still think they slip up and lose. Tough to tell in the b12 tbh. WVU is not good

perhaps a baylor-a&m BCS matchup looms. baylor will not pass up oregon, clemson, OSU, fsu or even louisville if those teams remain unbeaten.

I'm hoping for a Baylor/FSU title game, tbh.... Famous Jameis vs. that Baylor offense, and the best part would be no SEC or Oregon, tbh....

They'll definitely pass up Louisville if they beat, OU, UT, Okie St and Tech if we can stay ranked

Their schedule has been laughable up to this point... but then I look at their remaining schedule and I don't see how they don't win the big12 :lol OU is probably the only team that can beat them and they get them at home.

Hard to tell how good they really are at this point. Them running up the score and hanging 70 every week isn't that impressive. A lot of teams can do that against these lower opponents but decide not too.

:lol laughable Schedule with Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, and Arkansas so far, with 8 home games

That'd be delicious, but I'd even settle for Bill Snyder bending them over this weekend.

all I know is that they haven't faced a real defense yet and when that happens they'll be in trouble.

I think it's entirely possible they run the table and win the Big 12, but I just don't see them in the title game. They started off ranked too low, and there are just better teams out there at this point.

If any other team is undefeated, then that team will most certainly get the edge over Gaylor.

Good thing no one in the Big 12 plays defense.

Yah, Baylor needs to go undefeated and have Florida St and Oregon lose

AFBlue

Annd, the bomb drops.

Despite being undefeated and putting up gaudy stats, albeit against weak competition, the Bears sit at #8 in the initial BCS ranking behind other undefeated teams Mizzou and Miami. Oh yeah, they're also behind one-loss Stanford who dropped a game to powerhouse Utah just the other week.

Honestly, I figured they'd be behind one of the other undefeated teams, but that Stanford thing is a slap in the face.

I agree that Stanford ahead of Baylor is bullshit.

Baylor's schedule has been awful. No reason to complain yet. They'll go up once they get to the meat of their schedule. Stanford has played much better teams. Missouri should clearly be higher.

Between OU, OSU & Texas... they BU will lose at least one of the games. I'm going to shot-in-the-dark call it and say OSU gets the surprise upset.

I actually agree on Mizzou. I don't know enough about who Miami has played to say one way or the other. But Stanford is clear cut...they lost to Utah. If they had lost to Oregon I might understand it, but Baylor gets ragged for only beating (annihilating) weak competition and Stanford can't even do that.

Yeah Stanford is bull shit.

But if Baylor takes care of business, they should be #4 in no time.

Tech / OU should be interesting. OU doesn't look very impressive. The afternoon game should help some. At least it's not at night on the road.

Any word on Mayfield? Is it going to be Webb again?

Blake
10-21-2013, 11:28 AM
I don't see how you sit Webb after two straight 400 yard games, game sealing touchdown throw.

Webb has had good protection and has been able to sit back and pick defenses apart. Chances are though, that he'll get pressured a lot on Saturday.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Baker in the third if they get down by 20+ because they aren't moving the ball.

Webb definitely gets the nod. had some beautiful passes last week.

I agree. Baylor has been more impressive, but Stanford has played better teams right now. Miami hasn't been impressive either. I do think Baylor is the best in the Big 12 and like watching them play.

Webb will for sure be starting, how could he not? Finally, the real games begin for Tech, interested to see how they respond on the road to a top 15 team.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't touch it, but if I had to, I'd take OU-7 running away.

It's true that they haven't played anyone yet, but 15 is ludicrous.. UCLA didn't suffer in the preseason rankings after Baylor crushed them and the whole PAC 12 got a boost as a result. If Baylor isn't for real, they'll be down where they belong soon enough. I'm just enjoying that they don't completely stink.

Agree. I would add that even though they haven't gotten into the hard part of their schedule, their dominance over the weak teams has been convincing enough to warrant the Top 10 ranking. They're averaging 63ppg more than half way through the season and their starters have played into the fourth only once this season. That's ridiculous if you think about it.

But I'm actually excited to see them go through the "gauntlet" of their schedule the next three games. Like you, I enjoy watching them not suck.

#4 heading into the toughest game of their season. If they win in Stillwater, they'll move up another rung.

The Iron Bowl is likely Baylor's only shot. They need to take care of their business from here out. Taking a quarter off on defense might not be the best idea against Okie State.
