- We badly need a PG with De colo and Cory sucking so bad

- Iverson badly needs a job which means he's going to play with a lot of motivation

- He's going to be cheap

- We have mills so this will be a perfect experiment to test if he can still play at all star level

- He's a proven competitor.

Ever wonder why he's been available for the last several years and yet nobody has signed him?

Yea, if the Bobcats aren't interested, then why would we be?

He would be great if he weren't the perfect example of the all time anti-spur.

Imagine S-Jax times 10. He would drive Pop absolutely mad.

... Avery is the coach of the Nets... that's like the Lakers signing Popovich while Kobe rehabs his injury

Cory Joseph > Allen Iverson.

I would rather have mediocre Joseph run point than trash-ass Iverson, who hasn't played in the NBA in years, and wasn't even a point guard when he did play. Make no mistake: Allen Iverson is a shooting guard. We effectively have 5 shooting guards already if you count Green, Manu, Belinelli, Patty Mills (skillset), and NDC (size).

Iverson at this point in his life is a bargain bin Patty Mills, without the team spirit or willingness to play off the bench.

I'm actually having a hard time thinking of a player I'd want on the Spurs less than Iverson. If I had to sum up all that goes against the Spurs organization's philosophy in one word, it would be "Iverson".

Allen Iverson? If the Spurs wanted a washed up, former All-star who really needs the cash, they'd sign Steve Francis.

What funny to me is the title of the thread, it could have been:
- Should the Spurs sign AI? or
- Can AI still play a few minutes in the NBA?

But no, the title is:
Why not Sign AI for Backup PG duties?

look hes one of my fav players but I wouldnt want him on the team. He's out of shape and prbly hasnt touched a ball in the longest time. People on other forums I visit claim he spends his days at a mall in atlanta. The dude is broke

Now after the choking incident that would probably make Jackson openly root for the lakers.....

AI: I am no backup, I am a starter, always have been

Because Popovich doesn't want the headlines to be "storied spurs coach assaults future hall of fame and former MVP Iverson for mentioning practice excessively."
