In before Lakerfan claims ESPN "hates Kirby" even though they're the worst offenders in spreading the myths of Kirby as "clutch" and "a warrior" :lol

Bryant averaged 27.3 points per game last season, the highest scoring average by any player in NBA history who started the season at least 34 years old. -- ESPN Stats & Information

Didn't MJ average 28.7 ppg at 34(started season about 3 months before turning 35), Bernard King also averaged 28 ppg(he was 1 month away from 34 when starting the season).

Kirby fans will be mad about this one, or maybe it's just ESPN setting up a storyline for Kirby, once he returns and averages 25 ppg on 43% shooting, it will be a fucking miracle.

FYI, when D.Rose tore his ACL in 2012, his ranking actually improved, went from 8th in the NBA to 5th best(ahead of Kirby and Wade) :lol

ESPN just whoring for views and setting up a storyline for Kirby, nice one.

Tim and Tony will get a higher ranking than Kobe.

And they should. if they cant rank higher than kobe coming off a career threatening injury ... heck, Pau should be ranked higher too ...

Was Dirk behind Bryant?! Didn't even look trusting you guys on this ...
I would place dirk over Kobe for this season too ...

There are few individuals I hate more than Kobe Bean but this is wrong. Even if it's based on injuries, it hasn't stopped ESPN from propping up Rose or Bynum in the past.

Dirk #26.

Dirk was probably in the top 25 range last season despite coming off of knee surgery. He should be top 10 this season with a full training camp.

who the hell did these rankings? Kobe at 25? Dirk at 26? morons

StrengthAndHonor

A bit high but understandable. At age 35 in his 17th or 18th season and with the most minutes logged among active players, you honestly can't expect a lot especially if he's recovering from what many people believe as a career ending injury.

Kobe's ceiling is probably 22 ppg 3 apg, 3 rpg this season. Anything more and it means Kobe will tremendously hurt what little chance of the Lakers making the playoffs, because it means he's forcing his way to get his numbers all at the expense of team chemistry.

Based on his play last season as a whole, disregarding the injury, #25 is roughly an accurate placement.

Dude only gave an effort on 1/2 of the court.

Never thought I'd see any list putting Joakim Noah over Kobe Bryant

if you believe those morons who made those rankings actually have a good knowledge about this game, you're even more stupid that those people are, imho.

It's because of the Achilles injury. Not defending Kobe here, but what about Manu ( a healthy one) not even in the top 50 rankings?

Shaolin-Style

Putting him that 'low' made me laugh because you know ESPN was after some discussion on their ranks and probably got way more views than normal on their website as a result. It is unrealistic to expect him to be in the top 10 on this thing but i can't see putting some of those players ahead of him even despite the injury

For once, I'm going to say, that is way too low for Kobe.

Right? He was the Finals MVP for the Heat.

I'd take Joakim Noah over Kobe ten times out of ten.

I'd go:

1- Lebron

2- Durant

3-9 in any order Rose/Harden/Paul/Anthony/Parker/Duncan/Westbrook

10. Howard
11. Curry
12. Three
13. Kobe

I understand the 25 ranking if we're factoring in leadership and cancerous influence, tbh..

25 is way too high. Basketball is a game played with five players, which is a concept Bryant has never figured out. To Bryant, basketball is like tennis - and he plays singles.

Right? He was the Finals MVP for the Heat.

Yet Manu got away with a juicy deal after a disastrous Finals series. :lol

is the turd taking a paycut on his next extention?

anything about 20m a year, then isnt he and the lakers are hippocrites for not giving what shaq wanted, but went through the process building around kobe using the same amount that wouldve been the same had they kept snaq?

Raven
10-17-2013, 05:36 AM
he should be WAY lower than that.

I think the days of Dirk and Kobe being top 8 players are definitely over.

Dirk and Kobe are probably both in the 15-20 range IMO.

Rogue

Dirk is our god and he's still a top 10 of the league imho. The fact he played rather bad the past two years had more to do with injuries than the hypothetic loss of his ability due to age. Now Dirk's back fully healthy and I think we have every reason to expect another great season from Dirk and them mavs imho. Our current squad is absolutely the best it's been since TC's departure tbh, we're going to be the dark horse of the season more likely than any other team.
