"Other"

I think that, while obviously no more Tours for Lance, bicycling is a way for him to raise money for cancer. If I were in his shoes, I'd try to organize more charity races like the Race for the Roses (I think I got the name correct) in Austin. The money raised would help the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and the publicity would help raise the popularity of American cycling in general.

But I hate it when people say that bicycling is not a sport. I run x-country, competitively, and I hear the same thing. It may not be a SPECTATOR sport, but go run a race, or ride up and down mountains, and THEN tell me it is not a sport.

I've run some races and have done some long bike rides, all in my younger days. I guess my feeling is that the top american athletes don't do cycling. I think that if walter payton, jerry rice, etc. would have done bicycling they would do just as good as lance.
