The San Antonio Spurs have completed just two alley-oops over the past two seasons, which ranks last in the NBA.
The Chicago Bulls are ranked 29th with 24 alley-oops.
The Los Angeles Clippers (255), Denver Nuggets (206), Los Angeles Lakers (147) and New York Knicks (146) have thrown the most alley-oops.

I think he means 5 in first sentence cause thats what title said, per realgm

And yet, we made the WCFs and the NBA Finals. Must not mean anything.

Probably 5 more than they had, when winning championships.

Not surprised that the two smartest coaches in the league have their teams in the bottom two. In the end it's still just two points, which a layup can provide or a corner 3 can surpass.

You guys are missing the point, spurs are a fast break team a lot of the last 2 years, and only 5 alley hoops? It's not about making bad decisions it's about how low our tendency is of attempting it

So what? What does an alley oops mean anyways? 2 points are 2 points.

We only ran that one play for he-who-shall-not-be-named as a back door cut.

We don't exactly have players who play above the rim either ..

Wonder it's because we don't have any athletic players who specialize in alley-oops. I remember when we had RJ that used to be a staple play by Pop. I can name one alley-oop on the top of my head.. and that's Tim Duncan against the Lakers in the first round.

I'll never forget Danny Green's breakout game off the bench, that was one alley.

Don't remember the rest. Probably HWSNBN

Actually, YOU are the one missing the point: it doesn't matter.

Because it's a low percentage play on the fast break.

We ran it some over the top of the passing lanes when we had RJ to keep the defense honest - but even that wasn't effective once teams started planning against it.

How many of those were Patty to Baynes alleyoops in garbage time?

Spurs play below the rim like the WNBA.

Not really, the Spurs are boring tag is there for a reason. The Spurs score on great ball movement and good perimeter shooting, very little athleticism and above the rim play. Very little running and dunking which most fans find exciting, that is the way Pop has built his teams.

The Spurs are a fast break team??? Maybe in the 1970s, not today.

here is the Spurs fast break. Tony gets the ball and starts to run on a break, nobody runs down court with him so he pulls it back out and the Spurs get into passing it around to find the open 3 point shooter.

1 was to RJ and another to Leonard both by Parker. Off the top of my head, I think....

Parker also has a long history of keeping the ball himself and going 1 on 3.

I really don't care how the Spurs score points. All I care about is if they more points than the other team at the end of the game.

TP is really good at throwing alley-oops. Ginobili is better.

There is nothing wrong with being more multiple on offense. I wouldn't all out hunt for alley-oops, but giving the defense something else to game plan for is always a good thing. Look at what Paul was able to do for Chandler in NO.

Yes, yes, before people say "the Hornets didn't win anything though", we are all aware of that, but, you can always take good offensive wrinkles from teams that didn't win it all.
