I visited Houston for the first time since I was a child. I was quite impressed with the development of the area. More diverse, real suburbs, bigger city. I checked out the Galleria, Chinatown, downtown, uptown, the sports stadiums. Didn't get to do everything I wanted to and I need to go visit again.

It's funny how the city had some cool events popping off downtown, while SA was having a redneck gun rally. The traffic at night sucked and the toll roads were annoying. Not a big deal to me though. Seemed like a cool place to live. Anyone here have some horror stories about Houston or why SA is better place to live?

I'm from Houston. It's really hot and humid there, and stinks. Still love my city. I stay in SA right now, I like it, just lots of damn people don't know how to drive when it rains here.

All it took was a few hydroplanes in multiple vehicles for me to start driving like a grandma when it rains :lol

Yeah San Antonio humidity is bad, but Houston is south America jungle sweat horrible. Mosquitos are the size of small helicopters, roaches the size of fat mice.

Never been a fan of Screwston, but I was in DT Houston recently for work and it's a pretty vibrant DT scene.

Now is a decent time to hang in Houston, but four months isn't enough to make up for the other eight.

Pretty much agree with the general consensus. Between the worst traffic in the state, the oppressive heat most of the year and mosquitos that will bite you through your clothing it's no place to relocate to permanently. Nice place to visit in the winter though.

yeah it is terrible. Corpus is the same, but a little more tolerable b/c there is usually wind.

I would say it's the foreskin of the US. Really no use for it and a haven for bacteria.

Houston is the anus of this country so it's really no surprise Houston is so humid and hot imho. Houston might be a fine place to live in before 02, while MJ was living there, but things have changed drastically ever since.

I understand that people hate Houston and I agree with them but you can't simply give it up for the "good" of the state or the country imho. It's like, you can't live in a house without any toilets, can you?

No way, not even half a way!
You could maybe get away with Houston>Laredo, or Houston>Killeen, but San Antonio? Not even in the same ballpark. :lol

Bound to happen in a big city like that, 3rd largest in the U.S. in fact. But you should spend some time in Northeast Texas, some real beauties there, but they usually migrate to the DFW area when old enough.

word? i've only been to dallas a handful of times but spent majority of my time near the new stadium and allen, texas. i'm gonna have to make some time to check out the nightlife and explore the city next time i visit.

I think Houston is 4th, trailing Chicago. Either way it's still much bigger than here.

We used to get in pissing contests on here with the Mav trolls all the time in the heyday of the Spur/Mav rivalry.
We used to tell them that "while Dallas has their trophy wives, we have our NBA championship trophies".

I had a great time in Houston when I lived there ('85-'93). Tons of shit to do there. All three major league sports, great museums, cinema, clubs, music venues. Used to cycle along Allen Parkway/Memorial Drive. Not as pretentious as Dallas. Traffic sucks. Maybe could have done without the Deer Park/Pasadena experience.

I don't know about today but back then it wasn't that it was ghetto, it was too aryan nation/kkk. The redhead I dated from there was nice. Everything else - no thanks.

Yep. Driving east on the Pasadena freeway.

The Woodlands just north of Houston is the Stone Oak. That smell that you get about 25
miles from Houston is money. The money smell is the oil refinery's around the town. The
smell of this money will kill your lungs if you live there long enough. Rains almost every
afternoon in the summer. Why do you think they built the Astrodome.

The worst driving (check insurance rates for this truth),
The worst traffic (see above),
The worst humidity (self explanatory),
The worst mosquitos (repellent sales),
The most over crowding (psychoanalysis boom).
That is enough for me, thank you very much! :lol

And I almost forgot, the worst crime!
