Okay...back to cooking:

Last night I grilled pork chops, made garlic butter rice, green beans, a salad (with a cucumbers ;) ) , fruit salad and french bread.

And no, I didn't bake the bread myself...I bought it at HEB on my way home from work.

"roasted" chicken in 20- 30 min.:

A. screw the whole chicken. thast a pain in the but.

B. buy the 10lb bag of Chicken quaters.... it's usually like $4 or less and will last thru at least 4 meals.

C. put a littel oil in baking dish, turn oven to 350, put chicken in dish and sprinkle with seasoning of choice. ( i just use fiesta brand beef fajita seasoning) and put in oven uncovered

D. come back 20-25 mins to perfectly moist baked chicken and tasty crispy skin. yum yum.

Tonights dinner:

Sauerbraten
Potaote Pancakes
green beans

Total actual cooking time: 40min.
this is one of my longer hands-on time meals but i figure it's worth it since the pot roast will last for a few different meals untill around Sunday morning.
Truth be told Saurbraten takes days since it marinates for 5 days before you roast it for 3 hours... but I'm not standing there watching it or touching it thru the marinating or roasting. It does that on it's own.

1 3-4 lb sirloin steak, 2 1/2 in. thick, untrimmed
kosher salt
melted butter

Build fire in fireplace 2 to 3 hours in advance to providea deep enough hot bed of ashes. remove hot embers from logs and arrangeas cooking surface over ashes, placing logs to 1 side. Coat 1 side of steak completely in salk. PLace salt side down on hot embers. Cook for 18-25 min. Remove from embers, brush off salt. Add fresh embers from logs to cooking surface. Coat other side of steak with salt. Place salt side down on embers. Cook 15-20 min. Brush off salt. Place on serving plate, cut tinot thin slices. Dip slices in butter and place on bread.

Anyone got a big fireplace or outdoor fire pit want to try this?? I've always wanted to but havn't had the means. I'd liek ot know how it comes out.

well ... it says to brush off the salt......
I think it;'s a protective barrier from the embers.

maybe it's because I'm preggo nad really really craving red meat... but i can't get this recipie out of my mind... I just keep picturing some big juicy steaky steak steak with little flames curling around it. the fat is bubbling, the smell is so delicious... and it's singing a song to me.... calling me to eat it.........

If I have time and it's not raining, I'll try it this evening.

I would think it would take something to hold enough salt to the bottom of the steak.

Sirloin typically is a fairly lean cut, wouldn't be much fat bubbling.

Another good one is to take a whole (bone in) ham, place it in a pot with two quartered onions, cover with Coca-Cola, bring to a boil and gently boil for about 2-1/2 hours. Remove from Coke, cover with molasses and dry mustard, place in preheated oven at 300 or so and cook another 15 minutes (Don't have the exact times/temps memorized).

Really good stuff

Guard: Halt! Who goes there?
Arthur: It is I, Arthur, son of Uther Pendragon, from the castle of Camelot.
King of the Britons, defeater of the Saxons, sovereign of all England!
Guard: Who's the other one?
Arthur: I am, and this is my trusty servant Patsy. We have ridden the length
and breadth of the land in search of knights who will join me in my
court at Camelot. I must speak with your lord and master.
Guard: What, ridden on a horse?
Arthur: Yes.
Guard: You're using coconuts!
Arthur: What?
Guard: You've got two empty 'alves of coconuts and you're bangin' 'em
together!
Arthur: So? We have ridden since the snows of winter covered this land.
Through the kingdom of Mercia, through...
Guard: Where'd you get the coconuts?
Arthur: (somewhat taken aback) We found them.
Guard: Found them? In Mercia? The coconut's tropical!
Arthur: What do you mean?
Guard: This is a temperate zone!
Arthur: The swallow may fly south with the sun, or the house maarten or the
plummer may seek warmer climes in winter, but these are not strangers
to our land!
Guard: Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?
Arthur: Not at all! They could be carried.
Guard: (indcredulous) What, a swallow, carrying a coconut?
Arthur: It could grip it by the husk!
Guard: It's not a question of where 'e grips it! It's a simple question of
weight ratios! A five-ounce bird could *not* carry a one-pound
coconut!
Arthur: (exasperated)
Well it doesn't matter! Will you go and tell your master that Arthur
from the court of Camelot is here!

(pause)

Guard: Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to
beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?

Arthur: Please!
Guard: (patiently) Am I right.
Arthur: I'm not interested!

( A second guard appears on the rampart. )

G2: It could be carried by an African swallow!
G1: Oh, yeah, an African swallow, maybe, but not a European swallow, that's
my point.
G2: Oh, yeah, I agree with that.
Arthur: (extremely exasperated) Will you ask your master if he wants to join
my court at Camelot!!

(pause)

G1: But then of course, African swallows are non-migratory.
G2: Oh yeah...

(Arthur and Patsy give up and trot away)

G1: So they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway.
G2: Wait a minute! Supposing *two* swallows carried it together!
G1: Nooo..... They'd have to have it on a line...
G2: Well, simple! They'd just use a strand of creeper!
G1: What, held under the dorsal guiding feathers?
G2: Well, why not?

That's what a real man to you is?

:lol

Isn't that expected once you turn 18 and your parents are supposed to kick you out the house.

So a guy who works ar MickyD's, eat cereal for breakfest, lunch, dinner, takes car of some fish, and lives in an apartment with a roommate is a "man?."

Are you just basing it on what you have done so far in life, which is pretty much what I just wrote down.

Also, I would like fries with that.

I mean, your explanation would probably make more sense than GiG.

It does show a womens volleyball team.

I am on a fullride athletic scholarship.
hmm, does club volleyball offer scholarships? i assume that is what you are talking about, since that is all you have mentioned playing.

the answer is they don't. perhaps i am wrong though and you have some other athletic scholorship, but you say that in like every thread when they don't even offer scholarships for club volleyball.

edit:
huevos y papas... but only when it's cooked in pan after I've made some huevos con chorizo for Spursy......I like having a littel leftover grease in my taco. I find this to be highly disturbing. Quite disturbing indeed, more disturbing than anything gig has done or 3rdcoast pimpin gig's vid. This quote is simply outlandish. Highly disturbing, i cannot stress that enough.

I am editing this cuz i refuse to contribute anymore posts to this thread. Although unlikely anyone will ever read this, i must stand by my principle.

No, currently the USD Men's program does not fund any scholarships. However, interested students are encouraged to look into the many opportunities that USD offers in scholarships and financial aid.

Most clubs dont. Our school is different. Our team is sponsored by the school (We have good boosters, especially because of the success of our womans team being ranked so high). Our team plays the best college teams in the nation. We were ranked 33rd in the nation this past year. College Volleyball is not like college bball in terms of scholarship, divisions, and things of that sort.

Could you please provide us with a weblink to where it discusses scholarships for the USD recreational sports club program?

^ This is correct. Yet the school looks at other things. The reason I go there is for volleyball and its the main reason why I get money to go there is for volleyball.

So you get a full ride athletic scholarship because your grades were good even though the sport you play doesn't offer a scholarship.

Son, do you know how college works?

I can see the school setting up extra scholarships (not athletic) for someone. My brother plays baseball at St. Mary's, and they gave him an academic scholarship instead of using an athletic one.
