The Raiders are 3-4, one game behind the wild-card Chargers with a heads up win against them. Fairly light schedule the rest of the way (already played @Indy, @Denver, @KC). Remaining games:
Philly, Gian (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=567)ts, Tex (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=3821)ans, Titans, cow (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=3996)boys, @Jets, Chiefs, @Chargers, Broncos

Funny to think that if Indy didn't squeak away week 1 or if Flynn doesn't play against the Skins, we'd be 4-3 and have the tiebreak over SD at the moment

Looking at the packers schedule I just dont see where a loss will come from except maybe @ dallas. Even with all the injuries they have sustained, I think they finished 13-3 and grab a bye.

Lions have a pretty easy schedule as well. I say they go 6-2 in final 8 and finish 11-5, which unfortunately will probably still be the last WC spot. But I think they travel to Seattle instead of GB in the first round.

Both GB and SF's schedules set up nicely. If the Packers can get ANYBODY healthy they will be monsters. I hope the G-men defy history and take the NFCE b/c we al know how they do in the playoffs.

In the AFC, Indy should obviously win the South but their schedule and weathering the loss of RW will probably cost them a Bye. Still way too wide open for me to call the NFC seedings, but early returns have me putting the AFC at:

1. Broncos
2. Patriots
3. Colts
4. Ravens
5. Chiefs
6. Bengals

We're just about at the halfway point of the season and it's never too early to look at the standings/make projections/predictions. The current playoff seedings and records of fringe teams (along with remaining schedules):

AFC:

1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-0): @DEN, SD, DEN, @WAS, @OAK, IND, @SD.
2. New England Patriots (7-2): @CAR, DEN, @HOU, CLE, @MIA, @BAL, BUF
3. Indianapolis Colts (6-2): STL, @TEN, @AZ, TEN, @CIN, HOU, @KC, JAX
4. Cincinnati Bengals (6-3): @BAL, CLE, @SD, IND, @PIT, MIN, BAL
5. Denver Broncos (7-1): @SD, KC, @NE, @KC, TEN, SD, @HOU, @OAK
6. New York Jets (5-4):@BUF, @BAL, MIA, OAK, @CAR, CLE, @MIA

NFC:

1. Seattle Seahawks (8-1): @ATL, MIN, NO, @SF, @NYG, AZ, STL
2. New Orleans Saints (6-2): DAL, SF, @ATL, @SEA, CAR, @STL, @CAR, TB
3. Green Bay Packers (5-2): PHI, @NYG, MIN, DET (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=3776), ATL, @DAL, PIT, chi (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=46198)
4. Dallas Cowboys (5-4): @NO, @NYG, OAK, chi (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=46198), GB, @WAS, PHI
5. San Francisco 49ers (6-2): CAR, @NO, @WAS, STL, SEA, @TB, ATL, @AZ
6. Detroit Lions (5-3): chi (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=46198), @PIT, TB, GB, @PHI, BAL, NYG, @MIN
__________________________________________________ ________________________________________

7. Carolina Panthers (5-3): @SF, NE, @MIA, TB, @NO, NYJ, NO, @ATL
8. Chicago Bears (4-3): @GB, DET, BAL, @STL, @MIN, DAL, @CLE, @PHI, GB
9. Arizona Cardinals (4-4): HOU, @JAX, IND, @PHI, STL, @TEN, @SEA, SF

14. New York Giants (2-6): OAK, GB, DAL, @WAS, @SD, SEA, DET (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=3776), WAS

Looking at the schedule, the road to the SB will go through SF imo. If Chicago didn't have QB concerns they'd be frontrunners for the final WC spot. AZ is inconceivably in the race.

Any half-point prognostications?

Packers fell from #3 to #8 tonight, and possibly lost their QB:wow. That's why this is the best sport in the world--the margin for error is so little and one loss can have catastrophic effects. Giants are gonna have another Super Bowl run imo; no one in the NFC is dominant outside Seattle at home, and I think the Giants have it in them to win there. Would be nice if the Pats could meet them again, but it'll prolly be a Manning bowl.

Jacob1983
11-18-2013, 04:33 AM
If that happens, it will be sad for the Cowboys. Since their last Super Bowl win, they have let the Steelers pass them with Super Bowl championships. The Steelers have also tied the Cowboys in Super Bowl appearances. They have also let the Giants get close to matching their total. If the Giants pulled off the miracle this year, that would be number 5 for them.

Real talk, I was considering adding TB to the playoff list at 3-8, just out of respect. Schiano was a pariah and the "bad guy," but by year's end he might be a Top 5 COY candidate.:lol Reid is the obvious frontunner right now, with Arians and Belichick closing in.

He may be, but he's a U guy so I'm obligated to stick up for him. Some of his methods are frowned upon, but he's also evolving and learning how to deal with professional athletes now. You can't brow-beat players like you do in college. All that being said, it speaks volumes that the Bucs haven't quit despite every reason to do so--especially since they quit on Morris in 2011 and Schiano in 2012. Minus their top 2 RBs, #2 receiver, and going with a rookie QB--all in the midst of a near-mutiny--he has them playing inspired ball and they'll be a pain the ass for all their opponents down the stretch. If the Bucs (and Glennon) continue to improve and finish with 6-7 wins, then he deserves another year imo

I think he deserves another year regardless just because coaches shouldn't be fired after 2 years unless they're historically bad. That being said, I never like crowning a coach because they win a bunch of meaningless regular season game after an atrocious start. The Cardinals did that with Jizzenhunt after he finished the 2011 season 7-2, they Cowboys did it with Garrett because of the games he won the season Phillips got fired, same thing with the Vikings and Frazier, etc. Winning games after you're already out of the hunt might seem impressive because your players have nothing to play for but the evidence says otherwise.

:lol Norv was a master at opening up his playbook and winning games only AFTER we were eliminated from playoff contention in a desperate attempt to keep his job, tbh.....

updated. Looks like Cincy will win the AFCN and likely a #3 seed barring a collapse. I don't trust the Colts to win anymore road games with their inconsistency since Wayne left. They'll finish 10-6, win the AFCS, beat up on the Chiefs, then lose to DEN or NE.

Philly's schedule is more favorable than Dallas', so it looks like the Boys will be playing another play-in game to finish the season.

Arizona just won't go away. And they have the head to head vs. the Panthers, and they get the 49ers to finish the season. They could steal that #6 seed if the other teams slip up somewhere and they can win 2 out of 3.

My RB depth is pretty good. I have Moreno, Lacy, Vereen, Andre Brown and Ray Rice. A buddy of mine has Lynch and Peterson, but some guy picked up Toby so now he's scrambling :lol Pierre Thomas is on his bench but that guy is inconsistent. He has an important matchup this week as far as the overall complexion of the league is concerned, so I figured I'd explore every source possible because him getting the win is just as important to me as it is to him :lol

Hypothetically speaking if MJD doesn't get the start and this guy gets 20 touches, do you think he could crack 80 all purpose yards? I'm aware Robinson is going to get touches no matter what.

15-20 touches for about 60 yds is my prediction with a couple of receptions. Hes gonna be the feature back if mjd is out, denard flat out sucks imo, hasnt shown anything, plus our oline sucks so there will be plenty of screens for the wrs and rbs.

thats fine and dandy. they should be able to win in tennessee this week. week 16 they go to Seattle, which is probably why their % chance is listed as low as it is. by then seattle could likely have the 1 seed locked up, and you might see a lighter workload for Lynch and perhaps some other starters. week 17 is a home game against the niners. i'm not saying i'm betting on them to get in, but i don't hate their odds

Cowboys are still in great shape to take the East. They face Matt Flynn and Kirk Cousins the next 2 weeks, before closing at home vs the Eagles. Essentially, Romo's last 5 games this year will come against QB's who were back-ups (or 3rd stringers) to start the season.

Matt McGloin
Josh McCown
Matt Flynn
Kirk Cousins
Nick Foles (beasting, but was still a b/u to start the year)

I don't care if his defense gives up 55 pts a game or his HC were Rich Kotite--If he can't outgun THOSE guys to the playoffs then his apologist bandwagon should be purged forever.

Also, it's not like any of those QBs are playing with the 2000 Ravens D or 2002 Bucs D. Those 5 opponents he's played (or will play) all have garbage defenses that are routinely shredded in the passing game. There are no excuses left.

Some of the Week 16 outcomes that I'd like to set up the finale:

Ravens>Patriots
Vikings>Bengals
Saints>Panthers
Cardinals>Seahawks
Eagles>Bears
49ers>Falcons

Colts-KC looks like a good matchup on paper, but both teams are already in the playoffs and it's likely a WC preview.

Would be great to see Cum's 4-pick performance against the Cards come back to haunt him.
