Belli looks pretty good. Manu is active. Good to see. But why didn't Ginobili dunk the ball right before the third quarter ended? Splitter does that stuff all the time, too. Have our guys forgotten how to slam the ball?

Pop is a disciple of Naismith. You gotta watch for guys undercutting you if you jump too high. Plus you might damage the wicker on the basket.

Spurs had atleast 4-5 dunks...that's alot for them, in one game. It's 2 pts, either way.

Two points until you miss point blank like Manu did after the steal. Jam the ball damnit!

He will have some father time plays. He did good tonight though. He was actually pretty much the only one making stuff happen during that stretch...

02:53 [SAS 66-46] Ginobili Driving Layup Shot: Made (6 PTS)
02:25 [SAS 68-48] Ginobili Driving Layup Shot: Made (8 PTS)
01:56 [SAS 70-51] Belinelli Alley Oop Layup shot: Made (4 PTS) Assist: Ginobili (5 AST)

Loving the driving layup shot vs. the jump shooting.

Did I miss an offseason rule change that awards more points for a dunk?

Did anyone see Ayres almost get hurt by dunking the ball after a dead play? He could've hurt himself coming down on a grizzly player underneath the basket.

This. Manu was obviously trying to draw a foul, but didn't get it and it threw off his timing on the shot. He (and a lot of other guys) frequently play for the foul rather than the initial shot. The move wasn't a surprise to me at all, but it was still a stinker of a shot.

I would think slamming it in will get the foul plus the two for a made basket. We always go for these fouls then look at the refs all wtf when we don't get a call. Go for the sure thing, seems to me, and dunk it.

I totally agree, was just giving my observation on the play. It irks me whenever I see that last second hesitation to try and draw the foul. I would think a definite 2 would trump a trip to the line unless you are trying to put the other team in the penalty or know the trailer is someone in foul trouble. This was a last second shot though so I woulda loved to see a Manu dunk.

I liked the observation, don't get me wrong. It highlighted the problem, IMHO.

You're right here, too.

And Manu used to fire up the crowd with breakaway dunks off the steal. Seems like that horrid miss against okc in the WCF where he short jumped the dunk has scared him away from them a tad...

The fact that you thought Manu could/should have dunked that ball, is concerning. Maybe 5-6 years ago. Nowadays, he needs a running start and also needs to time out his footwork to the hoop, perfectly. He didn't do the second part, on the break, which is why he couldn't even make the layup. It was pretty easy to see what happened.

An NBA star can't dunk at 37? I could do it at 40 and I am shorter than Manu by at least an inch and probably heavier by a dime. WTF? I have to think timing but I am not a professional....an NBA player should have that instinctively after 20 years playing ball all over the world. Holy smoke!

Poolboy5623

It's simple for Manu nowadays...if the footwork isn't there or a head start, he's not dunking. Spin it however you want.
