Ted Cruz’ Father Is a Rabid Right-Wing Preacher– What More do You Need to Know About the “Why” of the Shutdown?
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz—whose father is Rafael Cruz, a rabid right-wing Christian preacher and the director of the Purifying Fire International ministry—and legions of the senator’s wealthy supporters, some of whom orchestrated the shutdown, are rooted in a radical Christian ideology known as Dominionism or Christian Reconstructionism. This ideology calls on anointed “Christian” leaders to take over the state and make the goals and laws of the nation “biblical.” It seeks to reduce government to organizing little more than defense, internal security and the protection of property rights. It fuses with the Christian religion the iconography and language of American imperialism and nationalism, along with the cruelest aspects of corporate capitalism.

Ted Cruz: Obama Has 'Absolutely Been Abusing His Power'

Jorge Ramos interviewed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for an October 28 episode of "AMERICA with Jorge Ramos." Here's an excerpt:

Jorge Ramos: I was listening to a speech by your father Rafael last July in Salt Lake City and he made a comparison between- of course he was born in Cuba.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX): Right.

Ramos: He made a comparison between Fidel Castro the dictator and President Obama. Do you agree with it?

Cruz: Well, I will say that it is an incredible blessing to be the child of an immigrant. To be the child of someone like my father who fled oppression and came here with nothing. And one of the real benefits of that is you appreciate how precious and fragile is the freedom we have here. My father has seen what happens when-

Ramos: And it is a terrible dictatorship in Cuba. But is it fair to compare it with the United States? I mean is President Barack Obama a dictator from your point of view?

Cruz: Well the point he made- look obviously there are enormous differences between President Obama and Fidel Castro.

Ramos: -we have freedom of the press, we have democracy, political parties-

Cruz: Absolutely, but his point was he was focusing on a statement President Obama made at the State of the Union where if he said if Congress doesn't act to enact his agenda that he will do it anyway on his own. And one of the things I am very concerned about is the explosion of power in the federal government. We've got the NSA seizing our cell phone records, our emails, and we have seen this president expand presidential power in a way that is contrary to the Constitution.

Ramos: You think President Obama has been abusing his power?

Cruz: I think he has absolutely been abusing his power and when you have a president who says "regardless of whether Congress acts I'm going to force my agenda on the American people," that's wrong, that's not consistent with our constitutional protections.

... :lol only when Dems have the Congress and WH.

Cruz was not Cruzading against dickhead building the unConstitutional "unitary executive". Cruz is exactly the kind of bomb-throwing, destructive anarchist authoritarian we NEVER want to have in power.

So the comparison of Obama to Castro was simply hyperbolic rhetoric for the mentally weak who make decisions based on emotion rather than fact. Thanks for clearing that up senator Cruz.

Asked about Cruz's Kenya comment and remarks from other events, a spokesperson for Sen. Cruz told Mother Jones that "These selective quotes, taken out of context, mischaracterize the substance of Pastor Cruz's message."

Are Republicans just fuckin' stupid? Do they not know that pieces of shit like Cruz are why they will likely lose in 2016? Republicans needs to be more open minded and accepting. The same could be said for Democrats.

"pieces of shit like Cruz are why they will likely lose in 2016"

Their shitty ideology trumps winning, except in their gerrymandered districts and red states.

tea baggers are a minority in the House Repug caucus and a minority in the Senate, but still can and do, will continue, to fuck up government, since as St Ronnie said "govt IS the problem", so fucking up govt IS their solution.

Coulter: Hillary Clinton behind Rafael Cruz’ call for Obama to go ‘back to Kenya’

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter on Thursday insisted that the father of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was just joking when he said he wanted to send President Barack Obama “back to Kenya” and “it was Hillary Clinton who first brought up, ‘Was he born in Kenya?’”

Video published by Mother Jones (http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/10/ted-cruz-rafael-father-video-christian-tea-party) on Thursday showed Rafael Cruz telling a group of tea partiers in April that the president should be sent “back to Kenya, back to Indonesia.”

“It’s clearly a joke,” Coulter insisted to CNN’s Piers Morgan on Friday. “I give a lot of speeches, the Kenya references always kill.”

“You know who brought up the birther thing?” she continued. “Another reason I think he wasn’t picking Hillary, it was Hillary Clinton who first brought up, ‘Was he born in Kenya?’”

“And point three, [President John F. Kennedy's] father was a Nazi sympathizer. Nobody cares what somebody’s father thinks.”

According to Politico (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0411/53563.html), there is no evidence linking Hillary Clinton and her 2008 campaign to the false claim that the president was born in Kenya.

But the urban legend site Snopes.com did link “Clinton supporters” to a 2008 anonymous email that claimed “Barack Obama was born there and his mother then took him to Hawaii to register his birth.”

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/11/01/coulter-hillary-clinton-behind-rafael-cruz-call-for-obama-to-go-back-to-kenya/

Even if it were a joke, it's "true" joke with the birthers and bubbas.

here's the crowd the Cruz pere et fils preach their shit to:

to research my book, Angry White Men, (http://www.amazon.com/Angry-White-Men-American-Masculinity/dp/1568586965) I traveled the country and interviewed scores of these guys -- from "men's rights" activists who think white men are the victims of the new discrimination, to the "white wing" on the rightward fringes of the American political spectrum, who believe they are watching "our" country being snatched away from them.

What unites them, I came to understand, was a sentiment I called "aggrieved entitlement." Raised to believe that this was "their" country, simply by being born white and male, they were entitled to a good job by which they could support a family as sole breadwinners, and to deference at home from adoring wives and obedient children. And not only do their kids and their wives have ideas of their own; not only is the competition for those jobs increasingly ferocious; they've also been slammed by predatory lenders, corporate moguls, Wall Street short-sellers betting against their own companies and manipulated by cynical elites into believing that their adversaries were not the ones downsizing, outsourcing and cutting their jobs, but those assorted others -- women, immigrants, gays, black people -- who were asserting their claims for a piece of the pie. The middle class white American man expected to be more Don Draper, all self-made , in control, and upwardly mobile. Instead he's more like William Foster, another fictional character who's fallen off the cliff into that dark abyss of despair, violence and madness.

Today's Angry White Men look backward, nostalgically at the world they have lost. Some organize politically to restore "their" country; some descend into madness; others lash out violently at a host of scapegoats.

Theirs is a fight to restore, to reclaim more than just what they feel entitled to socially or economically -- it's also to restore their sense of manhood, to reclaim that sense of dominance and power to which they also feel entitled. They don't get mad, they want to get even -- but with whom?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_Theology

Dominionism is the idea that Christians should work toward either a nation governed by Christians or one governed by a conservative Christian understanding of biblical law. It is a form of theocracy and is related to theonomy, though it does not necessarily advocate Mosaic law as the basis of government. Prominent adherents of Dominion Theology are otherwise theologically diverse, including the Calvinist Christian Reconstructionism and the charismatic/Pentecostal Kingdom Now theology and New Apostolic Reformation.

Theocracy is about as un-American as it gets.

Ted Cruz - Canadian..

Ted Cruz Still Hasn't Renounced His Canadian Citizenship

In August, Americans learned that Ted Cruz is a Canadian citizen. Though his status as "natural born" American citizen is in question, his Canadian citizenship is not, given his Calgary birth.

But lo these 120 days later, Ted Cruz is still a Canadian. The Dallas Morning News reported on Saturday that Cruz has only just started to renounce the citizenship. "I have retained counsel that is preparing the paperwork to renounce the citizenship," he told the paper.

Renouncing his Canadian citizenship is, of course, quite useful if he's planning a 2016 run. Unfortunately, nowhere in the Constitution does it say one is eligible to run for president if not naturally born a citizen but later having rejected other countries' citizenship. Cruz's eligibility is an open question in part because the language in the Constitution is no non-specific on this issue.

A Cruz 2016 campaign would be plagued by this question repeatedly. Though not nearly as fervently as the lunacy of Obama birtherism, some on the right have challenged Cruz's eligibility. His primary opponents' supporters would certainly use it to their advantage. But it's hardly the prime reason not to allow Ted Cruz into the Oval Office.

He likes the health care.

I assume US taxpayers' 5-star, gold-plated health coverage for Senator Cruz is MUCH superior to Canada's.

Obviously the Canadian angle is "hardly the prime reason not to allow Ted Cruz into the Oval Office."

Lots of Repug assholes, like "macaca" Jindal (racist, old, white "Christian" Repug party ain't never gonna run a brownie or blackie), Santorum, Cruz, etc, will get into the primaries with ZERO percent of getting the nomination, but they will drag the nominee to the extreme right.
