Hey Slomo I downloaded Adobe PhotoShop last night and I have no idea what 90% of those Icons do, I was using a real easy generic photoshop before.

You have any advice? where do I click to make a cool Gif?

anyone else have any photoshop questions?

Thanks

Tell me which version you have.

In photoshop you do the drawing/creation/manipulation of the image, in ImageReady (part of the Photoshop package) you do the animation.

how much did you pay? That crap looks like you need a GED to use it, I might be way over my head this time.

CS rocks! It is a little more complicated tho.

I've said it numerous times if you want to get into it, you just need to put some time into it. There's a lot of good FREE tutorials on the web just google for them. It's only scary at the beginning. And don't worry about the version the tutorials are for - the same command exists in all consequent versions.

Mouse: Version 7 is already very good. Do you also have ImageReady (it's on the original Photoshop CD)? With the combination of these two you can already start doing nice animations. For complex animations you need to pick up software that is designed for it like Flash or Adobe AfterEffects (for 3D Maya or 3D Studio Max).

I was actually cleaning up my album from last/this year and I have decided to put my photoshoped file into one album it's available here: http://www.cikava.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=Photoshop_madness&page=3

If any of you would like to have your photoshop work displayed online let me know and I'll set up a gallery for it on my server.

Well I started playing with photoshop and similar software many years ago (22 yrs ago). So I basically learned as the software/technology developed. I was sober like most of the time :)

The sigs I made during playoffs were made using 4 different programmes: 3D Studio Max, After Effects, Photoshop and ImageReady. The first two are really broadcasting type software for animation and I would recommend to anybody interested to take some classes - photoshop is much easier (it only looks complicated) but obviously you wouldn't be able to make 3D animations - which is not where you should start anyway. The most powerful features in Photoshop are picture manipulation and compositing (to make funny combinations like Shelly's pic in the mirror or Rasho's tatoos) and that's a good place to start - once you master pictures manipulation then you move on to more complicated stuff.

If you have an .avi file of the cop car video you just open that file in ImageReady, optimize it and save the optimized version as a .gif - that's all (trust me try it it's easy).

Also playing with all those software is too much - I can do it since it is an important part of my job and I also have access to those software at very special conditions. You need a lot of time and money, so if you're not getting paid for it it's a waste.

I'll do a tutorial on Shelly's voodoo doll (the one without the head and with the eyes blinking) since I only used Photoshop and ImageReady for it, that should be a good start.

Come on bro are you serious? most of he PCs back in 1982 didn't use hard Drives, and the ones that did have them, had only 2 Gigs, how the hell you pull it off? If you knew about PCs back then you should have bought stock in MicroSoft, Damm I forget you Russians are ahead of us back in the 80s :smokin

I want to jack with the GIF so that it's Sequ's car that is in the chase,
Is that going to be hard to do?

Thanks , next time you come to San Antonio have a 2 hour class we will all pay 20 bucks each and if 5 of us come to kori's for the class you can make 80 bucks.

and how long would it take to make my Avatar EYE look like its getting red from smoking a bong?

If you knew about PCs back then you should have bought stock in MicroSoft, Damm I forget you Russians are ahead of us back in the 80s :smokin That's all true but we did not do complicated or hires stuff that you now do on any computer. I actually wrote code on a Commodore64 to generate icons that we then used in primitive computer games (damn this makes me look even older than Shelly). There is a little truth in you statement since things were very hard to come by in Yugoslavia (compared to you lucky bastards) we had to be more creative - so sometimes we came by with really cool solutions.
The first 3D animation I was a part of was made on a 286 PC with a special Targa video card and it was able to generate one frame at the time and to render it onto a very expensive hard disk that had barely space for the software and one frame! We then recorded that one frame onto a 1"C video tape, erased the disk and started again. The whole process (for one frame) took approx. 30 minutes. That was in 1987 or 1988.

I want to jack with the GIF so that it's Sequ's car that is in the chase,
Is that going to be hard to do? Not really only bare in mind that there is a certain number of picture for each seconds so you'll have to tweak/modify each picture/frame - it's a lengthy process.

what type of job do you have that you have to use PhotoShop? I design and - more importantly - sell broadcast systems and TV stations. Part of our services is operator training and in today's TV there's tons of graphics. Photoshop is often used as the programme for generating the graphics that other devices then use in the broadcast chain.

You must be one of the original Geeks from your country.

The only person I know who had a Pc when they had no hard drives is Robinator and Crazyone.

The only way to learn Photoshop is to screw around with it. For example, I learned most of the tools by making textures for my NBA Live and Grand Theft Auto games.

I only use Photoshop to make sigs and banners, sometimes 3-D crap.

I have a font pack with like 3000 fonts in it somewhere, I just don't remember where.

I honestly don't know about good free fonts. Whenever I need something special for a client I will officially buy them from www.fonts.com (http://www.fonts.com) or www.linotype.com (http://www.linotype.com). But I don't work much with fonts anyway.

Sorry for keeping you waiting, I'm in adifferent time zone http://spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smismokin.gif

For everybody else Mouse was asking for animation software for a friend that has a 1000$ voucher from office depot.

And here's the answer to that non-existant post:

epends what he wants to do.

For web animations only: Macromedia Flash

For TV/Video and compositing: Adobe After Effects

For 3D animations: Maya or 3D Studio Max

I'm not sure what the 3D softwares cost in the US so a grant might not be enough. But it should easily cover for the other two softwares.

hey slomo I notice many programs I burn off the net are 740 to 800 MB when the average CD is 700 MB do you think they do that on purpose?

and should I delete some of the files so it will fit?

I downloaded Movie Maker , Max 3d studio, cartoon maker, toon boom, adobe 9.0, FX dream suit, Strata 3d,and Adobe CS,

Right now I am waiting on Adobe LiveMotion

Right now I am waiting on Adobe LiveMotion Well technically I'm not. I was made an Admin so I could update graphics on this board. The only way for me to do it directly was to give me administrator access - so although I can, It's not my place or job to edit posts or moderate the forum.

I hadn't noticed the problem :lol But it safe to say that deleting random files is NOT a good idea.

You've got yourself quite a collection! Are you sure you should be bragging about it in a forum :lmao

Well I was hoping you could tell me what files are not needed, I guess I will have to get my hands on larger discs.

You've got yourself quite a collection!

To bad I had to get rid of Riven ,Quake, Delta force, and Splinter cell, so all of it would fit on a 30gb hd

Are you sure you should be bragging about it in a forum :lmao
