I actually see the Lakers just scraping through to the 8th seed. However if fredo wants to tank, then i could see them dead last in the conference and Kobe could very well be done for the year.

I think they were at a similar position about the same time last season. The lakers remained outside the playoff table until Kobe rallied the troops and propelled them up to the #7 come the end of the regular season. All the lakers need to do now is keep the hole as shallow as possible so they'll be able to run for a playoff seat when Kobe comes back.
