Don't need him to be. Need a couple of monster games in the post and someone to relieve Duncan.

10 and 9 a game is fine for me.

So what? You cannot plan past one contract anyhow. AD would require that we have pieces around him when he gets good enough to matter, which he's not right now. Lebron makes us a championship team right now. Right now is what matters. In 4 years we don't have Duncan, Manu or probably Pop.

For non-stars, I'd go with Klay Thompson. He can hit the spot-up three like Danny Green, but if you close out on him he's still competent at putting the ball on the floor and hitting the jumper off the dribble too.

:lol Lebron is the definition of consistent. He hasn't been injured in his career, ever, and he keeps getting better every off season.

A smallball lineup with both Kawhi and Lebron on it is the ultimate mismatch for most teams.

Parker / Green / Kawhi / Lebron / Duncan

Anyone who doesn't pick lebron at this point is a retard tbh..

That said, I wonder how the system will change if lebron plays for the spurs next year? He will have to sacrifice part of his game heavily to allow Parker to play the way he's been playing..I don't think pop will ever change the system just cause of lebron. Maybe the most obvious choice is have him play Ginobili's role when he was in his late 20's...It's easy to say make him your stretch 4, but you're not utilizing him at his best if you do..

If I'm not allowed to pick Lebron, I'd pick a teammate of Lebron's (preferably Bosh since the Spurs need a good center bad, to help Tim in the paint). Not saying Bosh is the best center of the league but picking one key player off the Heat would substantially weaken that team, therefore it would increase the Spurs odd of beating them if there came a rematch of 13' finals.

Exactly. There's never been a time when someone would answer "Kobe" to that question. It would have been "Shaq" and after that "Lebron", even when Lebron was in Cleveland and Kobe was winning the b2b. That's because Kobe has never, not once, been the most coveted player in the game.

What many of you don't seem to get is a player doesn't sign a 12 year contract. You get them for one contract. Why would you, given the option of any player, choose a "down the road" guy? We made it to the Finals with the group we have. Adding Lebron would make us far and away the favored team, and James would play the system as well as anyone because he's not a selfish player. Once you have him, you could easily get all the pieces to go around him for cheap, just like Miami did. There are a ton of guys out there who are solid role players who just want a legit shot at a ring.

Of course none of it would happen because almost no one wants to live in SA, and you'll almost never find a top tier player like Tim or David who doesn't think big city as soon as their contract is up.

Everyone has a story but not everyone has the story of winning a title due a team making every mistake in the book to blow a Finals Championship with less than 30 seconds left in the game. KD also has the "story" of ownership giving away your second best player (fuck Westbrook, Harden's better) just after reaching the Finals to the Champioship-bought Heat team.

the OP said no Lebron, no Durant....I am a bit shocked no one said Harden.....He plays at both ends, shoots, passes, and gets tons of love from the refs as he shoots lots of FTs. I can't stand the guy, but I figured someone would have brought him up before my post.

Another name I would like to throw out there, Michael Carter-Williams......but we already have Tony Parker at PG. Still, MCW could slide over to SG quite easily.

I like the Aldridge and Hibbert selections, either would be ideal for the Spurs.

My pick is Davis, and I would be standing at the terminal with some clippers to cut that unibrow in half as soon as he landed.

He's long, mobile and athletic. He was a big part of their trapping and defensive rotations. He also made a fantastic play at the end of game 6 to recover to the opposite corner and block Danny Green's 3 as time expired in OT. Offensively he wasn't great but he certainly didn't hurt Miami.
