View Full Version : how does Duncan look to you?

To me, he does not seem nearly as mobile as last year. I don't think he's even dunked the ball yet. He looks more like the Duncan from two years ago than from last year. Or do you think he is just saving himself for later in the season?

Too early to tell, tbh..

He's just taking jump shots most of the game, a lot of them have even been outside of his range IMO, missing most of them..it doesn't look like he's engaged in the games yet..

If he's still struggling in a month, I'll be concerned..

He's regressed a bit so far, but as long as we keep winning I'm not concerned. Right now he's averaging 15 and 6 (before last nights game), but that's putting in account the Memphis game he only played one half.

I wish he would post up more nowadays.

He hasn't played well. He really needs to knock down the open mid range shots he's been missing to open up the rest of his game. He's been way off.

A bit off tbh, he is less mobile than he was last season so far. He struggles to defend the p&r, that's expected but he seems less sharp as of now.

still too early to be concerned

he's fine... still anchoring that defense, which is irreplaceable...

I don't understand... if he's hitting those shots consistently beyond the free throw line, why doesn't he just take a step back and start practicing threes from there?

If spurs want to believe one more time they need last year Duncan that's about it tbh ATM we are not here yet

His D is strong, still not shooting staight. Least of my worries. He is always doing more than most people are giving him credit for...:hat

Because you'd be extending him far beyond his range.

On topic, too early to tell. Everybody looks a little off...not just Tim. Tiago's finishing around the rim is off, Manu's shooting touch seems to be MIA, Green's not hitting the three pointer with consistency, etc. Despite all this, SA still leads the West. There's no need to peak in Sept like last year's Clippers.

He looks more like the Duncan from two years ago than from last year.

Duncan from 2 years ago (2011-12) was really good.

Duncan from 3 years ago (2010-11) looked done.

He's fine, its actually the rebounding woes that are more confusing for me than anything. I'm sure he's just coasting, as long as we're getting the wins who really cares? I expect him to dominate against the knicks as long as the game is close enough for him to get around 30-35 minutes, bargnani, stoudemire and martin guarding him all game will be a field day

he looks fine. if you go back to the suns game he had sequence where he scored like 3 shots in a row from the post. shit was beautiful

I don't think he looks as good as last year at this time but the team doesn't either. I think they know they can play with anybody, no point in blowing their wad early, so everyone is just trying to do everything at minimal level to win. It's not pretty, but health is all that matters.

I think he'll be fine. He's playing a little bit outside of his game with his jumpers but physically he looks in good shape.

He looks just fine mobility-wise, but his touch is off, which is not exactly abnormal for him this early in the season. Timmy usually starts rounding into form after a month or so. He may need a little more time now because of his age.

He looks like a guy who's going at 80% tbh. When he does get the ball in the post he's still great, like against Phoenix.

Winning against scrub teams and injured teams during the regular season doesn't matter if Duncan doesn't look like a force because that is what it is going to take in the playoffs.

Nonsense. Tim has plenty of time to regain his shape and touch, and in the meantime you take every win you can get.

Regular season doesn't mean shit if Duncan is not playing at top form come playoff time.

I agree, his defense is pretty good so far and that's what I'm mainly concerned at because the other starting big would rather stare at guards lay it in. His post game is still great, in the few times Pop actually calls a play for him. He needs to hit the boards much more but it could also be that Parker and Kawhi have clearly made that a point of emphasis for them this year. His jump shots are terrible and if Pop isn't as overrated as I think he is, he'll notice and fix it

he's probably still pissed at his coach and a certain teammate for their fukups in game 6 and 7. I won't say any names cuz I don't like to talk about people.

Duncan is shooting 6-23 from 16-23 feet this year, way below his usual number around 40-42%, tbh..once he reverts to his means, the offense should improve, obviously..
