In today's Austin American Statesman's sports section, they speculated about a future potential race for Guv:

Armstrong, Lance (D)

vs.

Ryan, Nolan (R)

Who would you vote for?

Well, I think Strayhorn versus Perry is gonna be entertaining enough, but I'd take Armstrong against Ryan.

Stranger things have happened, look who is govenor of California and who Minnesota had a few years back.

Athletes such as Jim Bunning, J.C. Watts and Steve Largent have gone on to hold elective office.

Thing is, we really don't know much about Ryan or Armstrong beyond what made them famous in the first place. I understand that Ryan is a Republican but he endorsed John Sharp in the last election over David Dewhurst so who really knows?

From what I understand, Nolan Ryan is a close personal friend of John Sharp.

Sharp should run again, he would probably get elected.

I would settle for a real conservative to run for governor, instead of the two that we are stuck with now in the Republican race.

Out of those two, I'd go with Lance.

But my future governor is a Jewish cowboy.

I used to like Perry till he fucked up the tax system and started this toll road bullshit.

Sadly, he is less of a joke than Strayhorn or Perry.

But if he was serious about changing what is going on in Austin, he'd be running for Lt. Governor.

^5!

Get involved if you're serious about it. We need all the help we can get.

I keep waiting for the bumper stickers...

"I WANT MY GOVERNOR TO BE KINKY!"

I've seen bumper stickers that say:

"He ain't Kinky, he's my governor!" along with the more popular "My governor is a Jewish cowboy" one.

You may not want him to get TOO involved. Tommy Boy springs to mind.:lol

I don't know Lance's politics... If I remember correctly, Nolan discussed a lot of politics in this book (I only remember because I was a kid who thought he was getting a baseball book and was bored out of my mind after three chapters):

Wearing a "Kinky for Gov" yarmakule into the Dixie Chicken doesn't count as being involved.:lol

Who would you vote for?

Nolan Ryan - if the choices were limited only to those two. Kinky is getting my vote (and coveted bumper sticker space), though.

Lance Armstrong.

Great athlete.

Cheating husband.

Runaway father.

Utter scumbag.
