http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1814095-ranking-carmelo-anthonys-top-options-in-2014-free-agency/page/8 I don't know if this is credible, or just speculation...but there are some good points. Could the Spurs be an option for Carmelo Anthony when he becomes a free agent?

I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, and I'm sure RC would feel the same way

only if Hell Freezes over first.

not only does everything Melo touches turn to shit, but Melo himself would never choose to go to SA which is an insult in itself. It's like Cancer choosing not to infect your body

NO!!! He isn't even that good. He just shoots and shoots and shoots. And makes enough to have high scoring stats. He never hustles, he never plays D. NO TO MELO! He is already getting worse, he is shit. I don't want him in San Antonio.

You're crazy dude.
In the playoffs he's like Richard Jefferson with the chuckness of Kobe. Considering the amount of dough he'd demand, not only would he ruin SA's system - but take away financial flexibility to boot.

I think the only way Carmelo becomes a Spur is when he has become a completely washed up corpse who is one year away from retirement and whose only purpose is to be the human victory cigar for a couple of 40 point blowouts.

No way he even thinks about coming here even if he was guaranteed multiple rings.

The same author also suggested he could go to Chicago if the Bulls traded away Rose. WTF? Bleacherreport should be given the Elliott / ****** treatment on this board for flat out stupidity.

Did someone mention Tracy McGrady?

The Spurs have evolved from a star team to a system team. The system still requires highly skilled players, but it is predicated on ball movement and unselfish play. The right shot is the open shot, and the ball should move until there is a good shot or 1 second left on the shot clock. Carmelo, as talented as he is, is a ball stopper, and regularly takes bad shots. While I don't doubt he could be a great player on the Spurs, i.e. score tons of points, he would not be a fit for the Spurs system becuase his scores would not generate Spurs wins.

In fact, his biggest mistake was leaving George Karl. That was the closest any system has come to making him a winner.

Why would we want Fatmelo?

I want another big. Asik, or one of the youngins. We have plenty of young wings but the entire inside is held together by a 38 year old and a brazilian with a Vagina.

I'd take him because you can't say no to a superstar. Don't see why he would have any interest in coming to San Antonio though.

Worst case scenario you can trade him away for picks and young talent.

He is a bum hates sweat and most time is worried about his socks sometimes has good shooting streaks, but a bum

no. he would set the team back for a while. too expensive and will be past his prime for more than half of any contract he signs anyway. even in his prime, a lackadaisical defender and a ball stopper worse than kobrick

I'd love it, he played well kicking out the ball at the right times last year at least against us, a disciplined Melo and an aggressive Diaw would be a dream combination for me. Fat towers ftw, skills > hgh, would be inspiring.

He'd be fine on the right team. No one wanted Danny fucking Green when he was in Cleveland dancing like a stupid monkey with James.

The spurs need a real PF and need him soon. They don't need a soon declining me first SF that can small ball 4 it some. A DeMarcus Cousins with his head on straight would be awesome.... Who ever the spurs draft into this role can even be a semi-project/ a bit raw to play along side TD for a year or two and then have timmy back him up and play as a reserve center and forward for a year or two.

I wouldn't trade Patty Mills for one-dimensional, no defense Carmelo Anthony. I might trade Bonner, but the devastating effect against championship chemistry caused by Anthony would cause me to have serious reservations.

I don't think there's a person in the NBA that fits the Spurs system worse than Melo. No way in hell Pop allows Melo on this team. He doesn't know how to pass.

If we win this year, I don't even see Tim finishing the last year of his deal. His priorities seem to have changed with the collapse of his marriage. I saw an interview during camp/preseason, and they asked him if he would play to 40 (one more year after this deal) and he was adamant that he wanted to spend more time with his kids and said NO, that he had promised them that he wouldn't sign again. I don't think "play until the wheels fall off" is the plan any more. This could legitimately be the last dance for Tim if we win.

Bad analogy. Danny is a role player who MUST adapt his game to whatever team he is on to stay in the league. Melo thinks he is a superstar. Those types of players resist changing their games.
