Mind-boggling that they felt compelled of give this scrub twice as much as Blair. Once Bonner retires are they gonna offer twice his salary to Novak? I don't get it...

He had 5 failed dunk attempts tonight. What the fuck did he do to get 2 mil/year from us? He looks worse than most D-League big men tbh

Relax...step back from Peyote Tea...and give him some time to develop his game. ..:lobt2:

A 26 year old needs time to develop his game?

I prefer him over Bon Bon, come on dude has been like 7 years in SA giving bad luck

Saw some good things from him. Defense seems solid. Works hard on the glass. Made some good passes. Offensively challenged.

Bonner will, and should be ahead of him in the rotation later, tbh..

Disagree about his defense. It's not all that better than Blair's. And I'd argue he doesn't work hard enough on the glass. Agree about his passing - He's decent for a big. Probably the only thing he knows how to do.

Bonner at least knows how to do one thing exceptionally well - shoot 3s. That automatically makes him a better player than Ayres.

Let's call a spade a spade

nigga is 6'9 and he can't fucking dunk a basketball.

he picked the wrong career

His offensive makes Bonner look like Larry Bird, but he's actually not that bad defensively. Not great either though.

He's getting paid 2 mil a year and has no skills whatsoever. I'd say he picked the right career. Amazing the kind of money you can get in the NBA just for being tall.

Thats the problem, he cant make a 3 even if nobody is guarding him, Bon is like 33 years old and never had confidence to shoot even to save his life, so Im sorry but no.

Bonner not coming back to play till January. That way he will still have some shots left at the end of the year.

What the hell do the spurs see in Ayres? The guy is awful

He'd be the best passing big on most other teams. He's been a better shooter and finisher throughout his career. Maybe he's just slumping? So long as he only plays essentially meaningless minutes I think it's fine for the team to find our first hand.

Jeff Pendergraph was better.

His career before the Spurs consisted of 96 games played in four years...so the sample size isn't big enough to make any type of analysis. But yeah, going by the limited data, his advanced numbers were decent. Got to hope he's just in a slump. SA's front office can't be this incompetent. It's just too bad he got a part of the MLE. If he was on a low Baynes-level salary, I wouldn't really give a shit how awful he was.

If he doesn't develop, he's worst case the #5 or #6 big on the roster who can be an expiring contract as trade bait next offseason / season during the final title run with Tim / Manu. It's not like the Spurs are paying him THAT much money (and get over it, AK47 wasn't coming here anyway).

His defense is shit. When he goes in then its layup time. His post defense leaves much to be desired and if he has to go out to the perimeter to guard then even more layups.

He's just not very athletic. He can leap but so then could DickJ. He cannot move his feet. His hands are awful.

On offense he does have a decent passing eye but his shot is shit.
