10 games into the new season, and the San Antonio Spurs once again find themselves as the #1 team in the entire NBA. Some things never change.

Been only 10 games, Phoenix was kickass 2 years ago or last year I dont remember exactly, but after the All Star break everything went downhill for them, they missed the playoffs
By the way, where is Utah in that list, they are worst than Excremento Kings

who said we were putting emphasis on reg. season games? Besides we coasting yet we 9-1. You guys are coasting yet you're 7-3 :hatA championship team should be better than that

Nothing but trap games, injuries and losing streaks after this thread.

Yeah the Spurs should be 10-0 by now, they suck. :rolleyes

Considering the uber choke job of 6, this start is a job very well done to be 9-1 at this point.

Pace to the season is all that matters. Statistically the Spurs are a dominant team atm -- a weird thing to realize on the eye test. I've caught a replay of every game when I've missed the live telecast and I can say we've played to 70-75% of our abilities, tbh...the Spurs have a switch they go to that lasts a quarter max when things are looking dire. That switch has propelled them to a few early season wins.

So Indiana doesn't get to claim the tie?

The record is nice but I think some of the other top teams have had tougher schedules to this point. Better to see where the Spurs are at, least 1/3 through the season.

Ehhhh, love the 9-1 right now and will take it but it's very early. Wait till our first 3 game losing streak and heads in here will flip.

Nothing special but it is exceptional. I felt we could have won that Portland game with better defense but oh well. Good start

Why is Pacers below us with better differential?

Why is Pacers below us with better differential?

Point differential has nothing to do with rankings. It's an informative stat (actually quite interesting to see that both 9-1 teams have +9.3 or +9.4 point differential and everybody is way behind).

Then why is spurs first? It cant be alphabetical. Random? or PF?

Iirc, the team with the best away record is ahead in the rankings.

No! :lol
Actually...we do have 2 more road wins than they do...
Easy schedule until now, I would be concerned if the Spurs were 5-5, but 9-1 against average teams is very good.

It should be noted, our only loss was on the road against the team with the 2nd best record in the NBA.

I don't remember the exact order but I think it's win-loss ratio > road record > conference record > divisional record > head-to-head.

(divisional record might come into play only if opponent is in same division, not sure)

Indiana is 3-1 on the road (75%), the Spurs are 5-1 (83%).

Actually the tie-breaking rules are explained here: http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Std_Div.html?ls=iref:nba:gnav

... and they aren't what I remembered. However the criterion that seems to apply this case, since the Pacers and Spurs haven't played against each other yet and aren't in the same division, seems to be Conference record, which should favor the Pacers. So I'm really not sure why the Spurs are 1st.

The Blazers are sneaky good this season tbh and could make a little noise in the playoff race, if not the playoffs

something else that doesn't change, out of the top 16 teams in the nba, 10 of them are from the west. and that's just for now, will probably be like 12 or 13 by the season end..

The Spurs are #1 in virtually all Power Rankings across the Internet.

I'd love to say that too, but it's only 10 games into the season. But still, considering how inconsistent Tim has played this season, it's a pretty good start
