Other then their top 2-3 teams the eastern conference has allways been very weak sauce. Even with a losing record teams there still make it to the playoffs.

You have to wonder if Miami would have repeated if they had to go through a tougher road to the NBA Finals. Maybe they just turn it on sooner and still roll, but would be interesting to see them in a respectable conference.

Have wondered the same thing about the 80s Lakers with their cakewalks to the Finals vs the dogfights Philly, Boston, and Detroit had to go through in the East to get there.

I'll admit I like that, although the Cavaliers have been flat-out awful so far, they're still right in the thick of things and should continue to be barring a complete collapse.

Teams in the East actually bang in the post. The Spurs went through shitty jumpshooting teams. Lakers, Golden State. The hardest part about playing the Grizzlies is getting Z-bo's stink off you after the game.

not to mention...

Dwight getting shutdown by Baynes :lmao

Ya, the West is obviously much better from 4-10, but the only physical team in the conference last year was the Grizzlies, and they weren't anything special..

Competition in the West is tougher, but the wear&tear is minimal..

East is horrid. Getting the #1 seed and avoiding a physical though flawed Bulls team, would be a HUGE benefit for Indy. Still dont think they could beat Heat ... but that could help. the 4th seed is gonna be really weak inteh East even if Tyson gets healthy for Knicks and Dwill for Nets ...

At least 12 teams in the Leastern Conference are tanking for Wiggins, Parker, Randle, etc. The problem is some of those teams are gonna have to make the layoffs. This will be the worst Leastern Conference we had since 2004 when the 4 and 5 seeds won 42 and 41 games and the 8 seed won 36 games.

Tbh, if you think this is bad, consider this: right now in the NHL, the 1st seed in the East wouldn't even make the playoffs in the West if they started today :lol

And both fell victim to the Heat in 7.

True but the East in the NHL also has the very best players: Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin and Boston's huge players alone are all top tier and can compete with any West team sans Chicago ...
