Only place in Indiana with Black people is Gary, and those niggas can't afford to attend a basketball game..

Indiana is arguably the most racist state in the US, tbh:lol..

They always have shitty attendance numbers, despite consistently fielding quality teams and occasionally a contender..even in the 90s when they had a bunch of White players(Smits, Croshere, Mullin, Foster) and a White-washed nigga as their best player, they still couldn't fill the arena..

Indiana needs Kevin Love to generate interest in the NBA, tbh..

hey it could be worst. we could be talking about a 2 year extension to a players thats not playing... or being the worst team in your state...or not being Even being the best team in your own dam gym... carry on..

Son I've been saying this for quite sometime now. The Pacers have a terrible fan base and every year it's been proven statistically.

They shouldn't be considered a great "basketball state". They haven't been that in decades.

How so? Lakers we just beat Sacramento and have a better record. Have wins over the CLippers and Warriors. We suck especially compared to your Pacers, but check a standings every once in a while ...

I think the Nba attendance Stat is a bit biased. Basically the bigger the arena the more People can fit in thus the higher you are on the list. Its no coincidence chicago with the largest nba arena in the united center is always first place. Hell its not a coincidence spurs were first in attendance in the alamodome days. Simply because it was a football arena. I think it should be based on pct of seats filled. Still. Indiana has some terrible attendance considering the pacers are having a historic season. Apparently 1 win away from the finals isnt enough. Dont the colts suck now? What the hell is going on there?

DMC
11-25-2013, 06:52 PM
Just 2% less than at 4 time champion, 5 time Finals team and last season's WC champs Spurs.

You're only going to get a certain percentage in small markets. That's why they call them small markets. Indiana will have to have title runs a few times to get more notice.

Indiana will always be a great basketball state because of the Hoosiers and French Lick. There's no getting around it. Even if you could, George mufukin Hill would seal it.

It's almost like smaller cities have fewer people who go to games. And Indy isn't just a smaller city, it's a smaller city in the middle of a small metro area in the middle of *NOWHERE*. It's not like Golden State where they have neighboring towns to gain additional fans from.

Golden St. plays its games in Oakland which is hardly in the same geographic situation as Indy--they're also moving to a stadium in downtown SF...

I think you also need to factor in the cities' populations imho. NY and Chicago have big populations so they have more fans attending their games despite the teams disappointing, Dallas as a city doesn't even rank top 10 on the population list but the metropolis of DFW has the 2nd largest population of this country, only behind the big NY metro. The attendance-population ratio can reflect the popularity of basketball in a city better than the absolute numbers themselves do imho, in which sense the Rockets have the shittiest fan base. That city has the 3rd largest population of this nation, and a team that looks stacked and is supposed to contend, yet it only ranks 13rd on that list.

- Pacers are paying George Hill 8 mil per year for another 3 seasons after this year

- They're also on the hook for paying David West 12 million for another 2 seasons after this year

-Granger's expiring isn't going to be felt since Paul George's extension kicks in after this season

This team is going to have to dig deep into the luxury tax if they want to retain their trio of George, Hibbert, and Stephenson (stephenson is a UFA this year and was only making 1 mil). If their fan base isn't supporting the team they way they should considering how great they're playing, there is no way ownership is going to dig deep into their pockets.

stephenson is overrated unless he drastically improves his game where the defenders actually defend him instead of letting him drift on offense for easy baskets...

they can afford to sit and either match whatever offer he gets instead of outbidding themselves....

You mention lances points but failed to mention his consistent rebounding and assist. His offense is his weakest link, whatever we get from him offensively is a plus. We need him to push the ball in transition and crash the glass.
