I ran into an interesting issue. I purchased the Diamond GC1000 to capture my PS3 gameplay and screenshots. It simply will not catch the video. I forget the exact message, but it was because of the HDCP. When I did some searches (if I am to believe the internet forum communities) one online person claimed if i get a HDMI splitter, that for some reason the protection gets stripped out. I have a hard time believing this. Anyone know?

Anyway, the thing takes awesome 1920 x 1080 captures. However, since the PS3 uses HDCP... The capture card doesn't record the video for me.

I'm thinking of buying a splitter anyway, just so I don't have to pass-thru the HDMI.

Per here (http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/How-to-capture-HDCP-encrypted-HDMI-sources-Vudu-Netflix-Directv-Virgin-Media-etc/topic/15179/), this (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004F9LVXC/) should work.

Thank-you.

That's pretty much what another source said in a Diamond forum. I already saw the inexpensive splitter, but I found one available in a place in town. It has four outputs. and is ... I believe it was about $78. Even if it doesn't work, I'll hook it up to the output of my home security system and split it off to more TV's. If it doesn't work, I'll order that one in the link.

I ordered two copies of Gran Turismo 6. I want to record the races. It is released 12/6 I believe. Amazon and Gamestop have two different special download bonuses, and I want both. I took a week of vacation to get a good start on the game.

Well, I got that splitter in the link you provided today in the mail. I need to buy another HDMI cable before I try it, but I'll let you know if it works. Been busy and haven't done that yet, and forgot when I was at a store. The 4 output I was going to buy was showing as available online the day before I went to the store, it was sold when I went to get it...

I still have 2 days before GT6 comes out.

Maybe. The software that came with the game only played in a small window. Maybe I have something set wrong. I left the PS3 in 1080P mode, but it only records 1080i. I may have to switch to 1080i again to record full screen, or maybe it automatically downgrades. Maybe I'm still doing something wrong. I only did one test so far, and obviously need another piece of software that is better with xxx.ts files.

Maybe I'll open a YOUTUBE account. I will use it mostly just for the still shots anyway.

According to this amazon.com description, that capture box maxes out at 1080i:

Although a lot of these cards do 1080i60 and resample to 1080p30...

Yes, it does. I almost bought a more expensive one to get the 1080P. It still passes through 1080P, it just doesn't record it correctly. It will take real crisp 1080P snapshots.

Thanks for your input. We may disagree a lot, but I have learned to respect your technical ability.

OK. May as well.

I am disappointed that it is slightly choppy. I wonder if that's the card, my setup, or YOUTUBE playback. The built in player sucks. I need something better for .ts files if I wish to expand my video "give a shit."

Recorded in 1080i, and is my very first YouTube upload:

Any requests from the game?

You tried uploading to Vimeo?
No.

this is the first time I ever uploaded a video. I'll stick with YouTube unless there is some compelling reason to use something else.

What do you think of the GT6?

Vimeo tends to be a bit smoother in my experience is all.
