if your contract runs out apple will unlock it for you. I don't think there is a working jb for ios7 on the new models yet, and i hear it may still be a ways off.

I have no idea, tbh... I had my older iPhones unlocked by AT&T once the 2 years were up without a problem.

I've also seen some shady sim cards on ebay a while ago, but no clue if they work or not...

They'll unlock it for you after the two years of the contract are up...

If you don't wanna wait, check Craiglist and see how much they're going for... flip it there.

I did find a storefront that claims to unlock.
I'm with you (saw on the ASUS thread) on unlocking. I dunno. I need to hear from some real techy types as to whether this screws up a phone or not.

Uhm, no. The baseband is locked to the carrier. You would need one of those hackish SIM adapters to use it elsewhere.

leemajors u are obviously under no obligation but do you speculate it's safe to say a new in box 5s 64Gb bought today, used yet maintained in excellent condition will fetch $300 at the end of 2014?
My only concern is the new larger screen iphones will make the *old* smaller screens less in demand. OTOH i'm hearing quite a few customers do not want the larger screens. Too big to carry around in pocket.
