I think some of that (lack of recognition) is that he has been willing to come off the bench for so long, and that impacts people's perceptions. He has given up a lot of individual stardom to help this team with its second unit. That's one of the reasons I was happy enough to see him get as much money as he did this last summer.

Best I can figure is that Pop is more concerned about tomorrow night's game against Houston than he is this game. Plus, Ayres played in the Eastern conference last year so is probably more familiar with them than our other big men are. Anything Ayres can give us time-wise tonight helps rest Tim, Splitter (and perhaps Bonner) for tomorrow night.
