Breaking News: A former executive of the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) received a first degree felony indictment from a grand jury for committing fraud. CPRIT was supposed to raise money for cancer research but instead turned into a multi-million dollar cash cow for Rick Perry's cronies.

A report found that Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott "exercised no oversight as the agency made misstep after misstep in awarding tens of millions of dollars to commercial interests."

Greg Abbott did nothing while cronies pocketed millions of dollars... and now he wants to be Governor?

The Austin American-Statesman was the first to break the news (http://progresstexas.org/blog/breaking-former-cprit-executive-indicted-grand-jury):

A Travis County grand jury has indicted Jerald “Jerry” Cobbs, an executive at the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas who was involved in the awarding of an $11 million grant to a Dallas company without the required scientific and business reviews.

Today's news puts Greg Abbott's negligence on full display. As a member of CPRIT's governing board, "Absent Abbott" refused to exercise oversight and did not attend meetings — completely abandoning his role as the state's top watchdog.

If you want another Governor that turns a blind eye to cronyism, then Greg Abbott is your guy. For everyone else,ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Texas deserves real leadership.

P.S. We have worked on exposing the CPRIT scandal for over a year now, and we need to keep the pressure on Abbott.

The red righties don't care... they are programmed to vote for the guy with an 'R' on his shirt pocket. Abbott could be caught on tape running over baby seals in his weelchair and the brain dead zombies would blame Obama..

There is only one demographic that votes in zombie-like unison, and they don't vote GOP.

Texas was solidly Democratic for over a century before the mid-80's early-90's. Granted the parties now are pretty different in ideology, but that happened gradually and unintentionally. The Democratic party in the South will get to learn just how long 100 years is.

Like the rest of the South, TX was racist Dem, until the 1960s social advances, then the Repugs recruited the racist Dems to be racist Repugs in the 1970s, aka, Southern Strategy.

the "smart, educated, progressive" parts of TX, Dallas, Houston, SA, Austin are all blue, only Ft Worth is still red.

Southern strategy. Look it up. If you find yourself stating unintentional again then slap yourself and try again.

Wrong. Has more to do with the New Deal backlash and Democrat's endorsement of Civil Rights than the reactionary strategy of Republicans. Retard.

So the good ole boys leaving at the express invite of Nixon and the RNC was irrelevant? And no shit they were asshurt because minorities eclipsed their influence because of suffrage reform. That is beside the point.

The migration to the GOP by the old southern gentry was planned even if the motivation was not.

Pretty much. The slobbering raw hatred of Obama is truly a bit scary to behold. Irrational to the nth degree.

Democrats endorsement of Civil Rights pretty much created the backlash that the Southern Strategy was meant to leverage. If you want to say something is wrong, then completely back it up with your next statement, that is a special kind of idiot.

bulllshit.

the racist South was solidly Dem for 35 years after the New Deal.

It was the social progress of the 1960s that led to Repuga turning the racist Southern Dems to racist Repugs, clutching the Bibles and guns all the way, truly Christ-like.
