When I think of scarves, I think of ascots. I hate both, especially ascots. And all men know that you shouldn't wear an ascot, it's worse than scarves, but both are still pretty bad. I'm not into accessories. And I have large collars on coats that serve the same purpose so it's useless.

That's like saying gel in your hair or a nice watch is useless. We all dress for the opposite sex (or, I guess if you are gay the same sex) so it's about what you like and what you think others you are trying to attract like (plus, functionality).

In Texas it's a bit of a waste to buy a scarf. You might wear it a couple of times a year and by next year it's out of style.

Guys, straight ones who aren't head over heels in love with themselves like the typical black poser, don't want more stuff to wear. They typically want less. Like I said though, if you're black and you spend more time on your looks and wardrobe than on your education, you're not being included in the "guys" conversation.

I love winter scarves as an accessory when they're needed.

I hate winter scarves as an accessory when they're not needed.

I hate silk or otherwise lightweight/summery scarves as an accessory always.

And all of that is true whether I'm wearing them or merely seeing them on someone else, male or female.

It doesn't have much to do with weather imho, when you don't really need to spend so much time outdoor if the weather ain't good. You can get through a bad-weathered day staying either in a building or in your car, and the only time you're outdoor is when you're walking on your way to the parking lot or back to the building.

And the irony is that scarf is yet another cloth that was originally invented and worn by men but was later stolen by them bitches, like pants. Men started to wear pants before bitches did, then bitches invented their own diminutive forms of pants which they called "panties", and soon panties became must-worn garments for most bitches to absorb their vaginal secretions, to absorb the urine residue from the vulva after pissing, and most importantly to hold the napkin between their legs during their monthly bleeding days.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarf

Ancient Rome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Rome) is one of the first origins of the scarf, where it was used to keep clean rather than warm. It was called the sudarium, which translates from Latin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_language) to English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language) as "sweat cloth", and was used to wipe the sweat from the neck and face in hot weather. They were originally worn by men around their neck or tied to their belt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belt_(clothing)). Soon women started using the scarves, which were made of cloth and not made of wool, pashmina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pashmina), or silk, and ever since the scarf has been fashionable among women.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarf#cite_note-smith-1)

Scarves aren't needed when it's -10c and warmer, tbh. Anyone wearing them with mild temperature are just doing for fashion. I bring with me a scarve because winters could range from -20c to -50c in here...I use them to cover my my neck and the lower part of my face and when it hits -50c I usually use the scarves to cover my whole face because if you don't you'll have a really stiff face. But if the weather is somewhat bearable, I just make sure to wear Mitts and toque.

OP, you're from texas. Anyone that wears scarves from texas are wearing it for style tbh..there's nothing wrong with that though IMO.

Yup I wear one. Bought this Cashmere one and damn it feels good on the neck. Wish I can wear it all the time but sometimes the weather just doesn't call for it and then you're just being a fashion queen.

My tip would be to wear scarves under your jacket. If wear it outside the coat then you're just saying, "Hey look at me and my scarf. I'm being eccentric and cool. "

From SA, lived in Houston for the last 10 years. Moved to London this summer. Never had a need for a scarf. Now I'm starting a collection. Mainly because my blood is water-thin and this place is cold, but over here they are a functional fashion statement. Most dudes wear them.

Over here they are a way of life. Breaking out your winter fashion gear for the one week of cold weather in South Texas seems manufactured. And if you wear them all the time even when not needed, you may be dude who knows way too much about fashion and hairstyles...
