Looks like Captain Jack might live to play again. You know he'd play well against us just to shit on Pop tbh.

He'll be grateful then burn that bridge because he won't admit Chris Paul is better than him as well. Still love me some Cap'n Jack though

Yeah. As much as I hate what SJax did but he's the missing piece last Finals. :depressed There's a reason why LBJ dominated the last few games, Kawhi is inexperienced and young. That's an advantage for LBJ to dominate the game, there's no reason he will get intimidated with Kawhi but I see LBJ get intimidated with SJax.

:lol Jackson was one of the worst players in the league last year, there's absolutely no way he outplays Green or even Neal in the Finals, tbh..

His last stand was the 2012 playoffs, just like Horry's last great performance was 2007..Horry was finished in 2008, despite Spurs fans waiting for him to step up in the playoffs, and the case would have been the same for Jackson in 2013, there's a reason he isn't on an NBA roster..

jack's volatility is what made him an asset, but it also makes him a ticking time bomb. There hasn't been a single goddamn team that Jack parted on good terms from. You can't change his nature.

Robz4000
12-09-2013, 05:32 AM
I love Jack and wish he hadn't got cut like he did, but he's done. He'd add some swagger and toughness to a Clippers team that needs it, but other than that he'll be a black hole.....except when they play the Spurs and he has a 30 point game.

The Scorpion and the Frog

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."

The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."

Use tongs, Doc, or a ten foot pole.

Would love to see Manu vs Jack off their respective benches tbh... Jack may be a tosb but his defense was still pretty awesome, I'm not sure I'd bet on Turnobili to come out on top of that one, especially with Jack being extra motivated to prove that Pop was wrong...

Mugen
12-09-2013, 11:44 AM
Jack isn't a wing anymore tbh. He's a small ball/stretch 4 who couldn't hit a shot last season while being one of the slowest guys on the court tbh.

WHo knows, maybe Jackson has something left. Maybe being cut motivated him to work on his game, to adjust to his aging. Unlike his last season in SA when he took the prior summer off, maybe he can be a nice minimum salary role player and a veteran to help the Clips younger guys. After all getting cut (or not asked back) is embarassing. I really think Blair worked harder to prove Pop wrong. If we'd kept Blair he'd be the same lazy malcontent he was before. It was only getting booted that put a fire under his ass. Maybe it will be the same for Jackson. The difference is Blair is at his best when he's out to prove people wrong - after he fell in the draft, his first 2 years were pretty good. Then he got lazy. Now he's motivated again. The problem with Jackson is he feels he's nothing to prove. In his mind he's the best, case closed. Jackson don't change for anyone. But maybe I'm wrong.

A lot of "maybes" anyway. I think the Clips would be better served with a promising foreign or d-leaguer.

12-09-2013, 02:21 PM
I always liked Jack's volatility on this team because it was desperately needed. But when he became a shell of his own self it didn't work. He was terrible last year.

That said, if he signs on with the Clips I can easily see him coming here and shitting 3's on the Spurs. Clips will still get nowhere, though.

He's rightfully going to a team where he belongs. It's only fitting it's the Clippers.

Godbama
12-09-2013, 03:24 PM
Let's be realistic here, feelings on him as a Spur fan aside, the dude's clearly got nothing of worth left in him. Anyone could see that from his last season with the Spurs, Spurs fan or not. It's not that he's "dead to me", he's just dead in terms of remaining basketball skills, so I look forward to him shitting around and looking like total garbage on the Clippers.

How pathetic do you even have to be to do that Heat hat thing, that's like a bitch move that made Sjax look more sad like some bitch that just got broke up with than it successfully dissed anyone else. It's like, good job trying to diss the team that you got your only ring on, I guess? Not like you get anything out of the Heat victory or that they're even gonna consider signing your washed up ass (and they'll try to reform almost any broken fucker). More sad and self-dissing than anything.

If what Stephen Jackson did was true, then he deserved to leave, no matter how much he would have helped. But the people who says how much Stephen Jackson would have helped int he finals are just kidding yourselves; the only thing Stephen Jackson could have done is probably get a flagrant foul on LBJ and get ejected anyway.

This is stupid. Tracy scored nothing because he played no minutes. Jack court time was replaced by Danny and Kawhi getting more minutes. The outcome of that was Danny hitting record threes in a finals series and both him and Kawhi stepping up their game all playoffs long. If Jack's around the last month of the season, that just dilutes the time Danny and Kawhi had to figure how to step up. Them elevating their game is one of the main reasons we got to the finals (along with the relatively shitty competition we faced). Nixing Jax was the right move last season.

All this "cancer" BS that's slung around w/o any proof

I'll tell you this though...

Imagine you come off the 2012 WCF as the only player in the entire NBA playoffs that was in the 50-40-90 club

Oh and this same player scored more points than either Green or Leonard in that 6 game series

Damn Sjax was one of the few players who nutted up once the Thunder got goin

"If you scared...Go to church" damn, that's what the Spurs call "cancer" huh...callin' out the gutless Spurs and deservedly so

Jackson saw Leonard and Green shrivel up in the WCF while he went out and took care of bidness

Dudes got PRIDE and then have his minutes cut next season and Pop to ask him to say he wasn't better than those 2...nah thats sum bush league shit

Top it off w/ trading him after the deadline so he wasn't eligible to play and make it look like some "drama"

career playoff numbers

KL 35 games 11.6p 7.8r 53.2 FG% 41.4 3G%
SJ 72 games 14.9p 3.9r 40.4 FG% 35,5 3G%

Call me crazy, but I'll play and develop the 21 YO with the better defense, rebounding, and shooting percentages every day and twice on Sunday. You also act like Pop/RC ejecting Jack was the first time that has ever happened in his career. The fact is, Jack has burned his bridges at every stop in his career. GS didn't want him back SO BAD that they took on Richard Jefferson's contract. Let that sink in.

Cause he sabotaged his and the Spurs entire season for his fucking ego. As others have said, he may have helped against Lebron but could easily have kept us from winning the first or second rounds. The dude is a fuck for then taking shots at Pop when the issue was and still is clearly Jax being a fucking bonehead.

And he certainly didn't show any clutchness last year before he got shitcanned. If you're gonna talk shit, you'd best be able to back it up with your deeds. No excuse for a kid from the hood not following that core hood rule.

I jizzed myself a blanket when we traded for him but the way he left will forever tarnish the good he did here in 03 and the 12 OKC series.

You sound hella dumb. Every single NBA player has huge egos. You and I know, we needed a reliable backup wing player other than tracy mcgrady and you sound stupid to think Jax will cost us from winning when he is CLUTCH. He plays within his means and take shots when it is necessary. He is no gary neal, damnit. Nonetheless, everybody in the locker room was shocked that Jackson was waived since he was such a awesome LOCKER ROOM GUY. This leads to pop's egos being too sentimental when it comes with Kawhi or any other player. And i don't blame him, cause we have players that have extreme potential, but Kawhi and Green are still very inexperience. I know for a fact Jax would have put at least 10 points in each game against Miami.

Sorry but clutch players shoot better than 27% with a 1:1 assist to TO ratio which were his stats last year.

The dude shit in his own mess kit. If he had shut the fuck up and played his role, he could have helped us last year. As it was, he fucked us and himself.

And "You sound hella dumb" is most ironic thing I've heard all day. Thanks!

I hate to say this (since we were 28 seconds from winning the title -- so we obviously DIDNT need him), but I think the series would have been a lot UNEVEN (in our favor) if we had stak5. We would have provided Leonard with rest and didn't let Lebron post up on Green, and stak5 would have gotten into Lebrons head with his physical play.

Can't move beyond 2003 ..and 80% of that 25% hates Manu!

I'm not sure it's just 2003. With Jackson, people don't remember the attitude, or the turnovers, or the chucked shots.

They remember Game 6 against Dallas when he and Steve Kerr willed the Spurs to the 2003 Finals.

They remember him hitting timely shots down the stretch against New Jersey in Game 6.

They remember Game 6 in OKC in 2011 when he was the only Spur who appeared to really give a damn about winning.

Jax gave us a lot of big moments, and that was his legacy, much moreso than the 12 PPG and 9 PPG he gave us in 2003 and 2011, respectively. That's what people are stuck on, and he earned that, to a degree.

The Jackson-fan in me is glad to see him man up and admit that he made a mistake. However, that just makes the Spur-fan in me even more pissed that he quit on the team. For that reason alone, I wouldn't want him back with the squad ever again. The fact that he completely washed up over the past 2 years is the icing on the cake.

Jackson had 9 points (two 3PTs and three FTs) late in the 3rd quarter of that game. He was subbed out early in the 4th, came back with about 6 minutes left, and added 3 more FTs before Tim and Tony tried (and failed) to take over.

Obviously he didn't single-handedly pull off the miracle comeback, but I wouldn't call putting up 12 of his 23 points "disappearing".

Leetonidas
01-07-2014, 11:07 AM
I guess I specifically meant the 4th quarter. Yeah it was nice building that lead but when they came storming back and took over Jack didn't do shit. I'm not saying it was his fault, he was a role player, but what I'm saying is to act like he was the big balls coming to play and was the only Spur to show up is just not true. Yeah he balled in the first half and hit a couple shots in the third but when the game got tight, the pressure was on, and the season was in danger, he didn't do jack shit, much like the rest of the team.

Well no one denies that SJax was a big match player. But just because he showed a lot of cojones during big moments, it wouldn't take away the fact that he sucked last year and was possibly among the worst players in the league.

What I have a problem with - not you - is that some folks here think that SJax's moments are more worthy than Manu's contributions for e.g. Manu towers over SJax in every respect, as a player.

It took him almost two months of the season to find a team injured/thin enough on the wing to be desperate enough to sign him, and they cut him when they had to guarantee his minimum salary, so probably not.
