Has this happened before? I'm gonna lean to no, never.

I'm pretty sure Stern no longer gives a care. He's more worried about what to do with all the money he raked in before retiring.

sure. but Stern is the kinda guy that cares about his image and all that shit. that's why he fined Pop for showing him up vs. the Heat.

Stern is basically the MJ of Commisioners imo

exactly. it's 4 or 5 more days of either timmy and parker out there doing nothing basically but running and practicing unnecessarily. let them chill at home. i'm no longer concerned with all star games. the guys don't even play serious in the games anymore until the 4th quarter. it's pointless..

It would be a more egregious violation if our stars actually performed well against the top teams of the league.

We don't deserve all-star respect if we can't beat any of the relatively weak championship contenders.

Talk to me about this after we've beaten the Pacers, Portland, OKC or Miami once and Timmy is averaging 18, 10 and 50% shooting.

All-Star voting is a joke. That's why I don't even bother with it. The big names are always going to be voted in by the fans no matter how atrocious they're season has been. Just look at Kobe, not even 5 games in and he's already leading in votes. The good thing is, coaches pick the bench players and at least one spur should be included, but I don't know they may pick Curry over Parker this year because of last year's "snub". Plus, it's not like people tune in to the game to watch "system basketball". They want to see the circus shot, dunk after dunk, no defense basketball, and i'm fine with any Spur not being included in that. Less chance of injury.

Fans care because that extra ASG "selection" gets tacked on to the resume of their favorite player, so it gives the fan more ammo when arguing who's better. Players care because it gets mentioned ad nauseum that they are 3x all stars. I find it amusing that both act like it doesn't matter when they don't make it, but act like it does when they do make it.

Recognition for your game is great if you've got a great game. If you had a great game, you probably received your recognition. Residual accolades are fine but the AS game is about right now players that right now fans want to see. No one wants to see Tim Duncan play token minutes and just run up and down the court, get a couple boards and turn the ball over a couple times. I've never been a fan of a team simply because they have popular players. Anyhow, the Spurs had their chance at glory a few months ago and they couldn't cash in because their stars couldn't perform under pressure, their coach guessed wrong as well. They were talked about long enough. Let the lower tiers have their day as well.

TP and Tim are obviously gonna get voted in by the coaches just like last year... Non story.

Why stop here? Wake me up when Timmy averages 35 & 20 on 98% shooting.

Half of ASG voting is a popularity contest. The other half is picked by coaches (IIRC). Which means there's still a possibility that a coach will pick some Spurs...

I'm happy when spurs make the all star team but i usually don't even watch the game.

I do think that the coaches will vote Tony on the team.

I personally like when our players get voted to the ASG, it's a nice accolade and helps with their "resumes" tbh

But honestly, we really don't deserve any all stars so far. Timmy sure as hell hasn't played like an all star if you look at his production over the entire season (if he keeps his recent production up he should get coach vote tho) and due to all of the blow outs parker hasn't played enough to put up his usual numbers. Idk I'm not surprised at the returns at all

We were talking about All-Star votes, and by extension, All-Star numbers.

Now which of us is being ridiculous?

People shouldn't be voting him into the All-Star game right now, to be honest. He was gonna let his timidity cause this T-Wolves game to slip away if Tony hadn't taken over.

The only thing preventing Tim from getting 18, 10 and 50% shooting is his own self-doubt and indecisiveness. His timidity.
