Flying Spaghetti Monster joins crowded holiday display at Wisconsin State Capitol
Source: Raw Story

A college atheist group has set up a Flying Spaghetti Monster display at the Wisconsin State Capitol to make a point about religious expression on public property.

The Atheists, Humanists, and Agnostics group at the University of Wisconsin set up the satirical religious display alongside a “Festivus” pole and a “Winter Solstice Nativity” scene featuring Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein and Mark Twain that was set up by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

“The rotunda is getting very cluttered,” said Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom from Religion Foundation. “But if a devotional nativity display is allowed, then there must be ‘room at the inn’ for all points of view, including irreverency and free thought.”

The secular displays join traditional Christmas items such as a 30-foot balsam fir tree encircled by a toy train set, and they have been part of the capitol holiday displays since a 1984 lawsuit failed to remove the Capitol Christmas tree, halt a menorah lighting and end an annual nativity pageant.

Christian anarchists ruin Christmas by stealing bikini calendars in Jesus’ name

A group of Christian anarchists has taken credit for the theft of $2,000 worth of calendars (http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/anarchists-take-credit-mall-georgia-calendar-theft/ncMXh/) featuring scantily clad women from a Georgia shopping mall in Buford.

“Every day on the way to work, we had to walk by this kiosk. Each passing encounter forced a specific sexuality and beauty standard upon us, and we couldn’t take it anymore,” the alleged thieves wrote on the website JesusRadicals.com (http://www.jesusradicals.com/calendar-grrlz/) on December 4.

The website describes itself as a gathering place for “Christians who are also anarchists.”

The group of three Christian anarchists said one person distracted the sole employee at the kiosk on Black Friday while another person grabbed about 200 calendars off the shelves and replaced them with paper signs that read, “Sorry, misogyny is out of stock.” A third person acted as a lookout.

“We all left laughing,” they wrote.

But the theft was no laughing matter for kiosk owner Jessica Roy. She told WFTV 9 (http://www.wftv.com/news/news/national/thieves-steal-calendars-leave-protest-signs/ncBQ8/) that the theft cost her small business all its profits for the season, making her unable to give her employees a Christmas bonus.

“They’re on consignment, but I’m responsible for them,” she says. “Not only do I sign a security deposit, which now I’ll lose, I’m also responsible for any merchandise that’s missing.”

Police are checking the signs for fingerprints.

Here's a Southern Baptist Confederate adulated, exemplary preacher for ya

How Rev. Billy Graham Taught the Republican Party to Sacrifice the Poor on the Altar of Big-Business

if you want to know where the base of today’s Republican Party—the Christian Right—gets its mojo, look no further than this Southern Baptist preacher.

The genetic makeup of the GOP is one chromosome away from Graham’s DNA. Today’s Republican Party is a neo-Confederate pro-corporation movement, thanks to the supposed life-long Democrat (when he wasn’t endorsing Mitt Romney)—the Reverend Billy Graham. A childhood friend of Richard Nixon's it was Graham who helped the disgraced president articulate the “Southern Strategy,” which won Nixon the White House in 1968.

Steven P. Miller, author of Billy Graham and the Rise of the Republican South, writes that it was Graham’s public relationship with Southern Baptist ministers, and quips like, “Prejudice is not just a sectional problem” and “Criticism of the South is one of the most popular indoor sports of some Northerners these days,” that made him an much-loved figure among his fellow Southerners. Miller also says that Graham’s evangelical understanding of the sins of racism allowed many white Southerners to declare themselves absolved from past guilt.

With help from the likes of Pat Robertson and a coalition of anti-gay, anti-Muslim, anti-feminist, and anti-ACLU networks, the Moral Majority became the Christian Right. While Graham publicly distanced himself from the Moral Majority, this was done purely for political optics. The media’s gullibility in falling for the “genteel, bipartisan, apolitical preacher” narrative gave Graham’s voice even more political clout.

he adeptly infused the teachings of Ayn Rand with those of Jesus Christ. In the Bible, Jesus says, “The meek shall inherit the earth,” and urges his followers, “To sell what you have and give to the poor.” But Graham, with the biggest Christian following in America during the '80s, helped turn the biblical Jesus into a supply side economist who wants us to be anti-government, anti-regulation, anti-healthcare, and anti-assistance for the poor Christians.

Where Bible Jesus feeds the masses with two loaves of bread, Ayn Randian Jesus says, “Bugger off, this bread is mine, you lazy moochers.” While Graham removed Southern
Christians’ guilt over segregation, Ayn Rand removed the Christian Right’s guilt for being selfish and uncaring about anyone except themselves.

“Not only did Rand make it 'moral' for the wealthy not to pay their fair share of taxes, she 'liberated' millions of other Americans from caring about the suffering of others, even the suffering of their own children.”

“Not only did Rand make it 'moral' for the wealthy not to pay their fair share of taxes, she 'liberated' millions of other Americans from caring about the suffering of others, even the suffering of their own children.”

We can rightfully accuse the Christian Right of ushering in three decades of failed trickle-down economics, which has made this nation one of the most wealth-disparate of the developed countries. It’s the political descendants of Graham who shut down the government with their radical Jesus said replace every government-funded service with a for-profit corporation ideology.

no one was more hateful than Graham. White House tapes recorded him openly telling President Nixon he believed that the Jews had a “stranglehold on the American media” and that “this Jewish stranglehold has got to be broken or the country’s going down the drain.”

“If you get elected a second time, then we might be able to do something. There also the ones putting out the pornographic stuff,” said Graham. To which Nixon replied, “the Jews are an irreligious, atheistic, immoral bunch of bastards.”

Graham blames today’s economic doldrums on God punishing the nation for its growing secularization and what he perceives to be an increase in immorality. “I don’t see our country turning to God…Maybe he will have to bring this country down economically before we turn our hearts back to God. We need to repent.”

"Militant _____ are some of the most unpleasant and unhappy people I have ever met."

You could literally insert any noun there and it would be true.

Muslims
Christians
Fred Phelpsians
Cowboys fans
"Men's rights" activists

etc. etc. etc.

The strange part about militant atheists is that they are militant about something that they don't believe in. It takes a special level of craziness and anger to spend your limited time on earth doing that. The article itself says it's a "satirical religious display" . A normal adult wouldn't give a damn enough to bother with that, which is why the militant atheists come off as angry children mad at authority with an "I'll show you!" attitude.... that's exactly what they are.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — After hearing from satanists, Hindus and an animal rights group, the panel that oversees the grounds at the Oklahoma Capitol says it's not taking any more requests for new displays at the Statehouse.

The Oklahoma Capitol Preservation Commission voted Thursday to approve the ban until a court dispute over the current Ten Commandments monument is settled. It was that monument that the New York-based Satanic Temple said opened the door for it to seek its own display at the Statehouse in Oklahoma City.

That was followed by similar requests from a Hindu leader in Nevada, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and the satirical Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

"At this time, I believe action by the (commission) on any of these requests would be premature given that the lawsuit has yet to be decided," said Commission Chairman Trait Thompson.

The state of Cali just took down another cross monument. Give it time and all of these 10 Commandment monuments will be gone as well. Diversity of beliefs eventually means that nobody is allowed to believe in much of anything in public, save for state sponsored beliefs such as diversity is our strength, all cultures are equal, and so on.

All cultures and ethnicities of the planet weren't meant to live in the same place. Gee, one would think that people would have figured that out thousands of years ago...

I'm a pretty run of the mill Methodist so I don't really consider myself that, but I also don't believe the BS about throwing everybody on earth together and we'll all just get along. Demographers have known for a long time that people segregate themselves on their own. But Big Bro will fix that any day now, just keep on believin'.

Wikipedia will have you know that Japan is 98.5% Japanese, 0.6% Korean, 0.4% Chinese, and 0.6% other, so there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan

Now all they need is to do is inject a million 3rd world immigrants in to Tokyo and they will be a developed, culturally enriched, 1st world nation in no time!

I'm pretty sure you can't become a Japanese citizen if you aren't one already.

And everyone in Asia hates Japan, and Japan hates everyone else right back.

And everything nice in East Asia comes from Japan.

Where does one go to meet militant atheists? I know quite a few atheists but they are not militant. They are not going to shoot up a nativity scene on government property. Is there like some underground where they hang out? Planning attacks and such...
