That's very, very, old news.

Must be a slow news day.

It's funny, It says it could wipe out the US. Uh, it would put a hurtin' on the whole planet. A REGULAR volcanic eruption in 1816 caused "the year without a summer". Crops failed in the Northern hemisphere. If that happened now, billions could starve. The Northern hemisphere is the breadbasket of the world.

It says it could wipe out the US. .

But the earth is 4.6 Billion years old there must have been Millions of these type of eruptions how did man and plant life keep coming back?

Never mind I forgot Science teaches us we Evolved from rocks and there's always plenty of rocks on this planet.

Didn't the Toba eruption drop the human population to only a couple of thousand. Well we have preppers now so the human race will probably survive. Pretty sure the surviving preppers will immediately vote to repeal obamacare though.

Everyone from the western states (though not quite the West Coast) to the Mississippi River would probably be dead within a few days from breathing in the volcanic glass and drowning on the blood in their lungs from it. Probably better than starving to death a month later though tbh.

Drowning in your own blood as your lungs are ripped to shreds from breathing volcanic glass? Or starvation?

This is only just the earth recycling humans. We would be back in a few thousands of years to destroy each other and the planet once again, don't worry.

I think they determined via mitochondrial DNA that it was about 14,000 people.

Those underground caves would be great place to hide. Food and water on the other hand....
