View Full Version : SF and AZ exposed the weakness in Russel Wilson's game

Make him stay inside the pocket and make plays from there

seahawks offense is really only wilsons mobility and romo-like-playmaking ability (minus the turnovers in key situations) and marshawn lynch. if you have a stout Dline and shutdown corner coverage, even with the cardinals down Honeybadger and others they still shut him down hard. They're definitely going to be in trouble in the playoffs - not to mention the cards turned it over 4 times, and they still lost.

Now thats just embarrassing..

I wouldn't say minus turnovers. Yesterday ended in an interception.

Cards need help to get into the playoffs.

1. San Francisco loses tonight, then loses at Arizona next week.
2. New Orleans loses next week, then Arizona beats SF at home next week.

Theres a scenario where:

49ers wins tonight, Saints win next week, then Cardinals beat 49ers next week, finish 11-5 and don't make playoffs while 9-7 and 8-8/8-7-1 teams do.

Bullshit.

Going 11-5 and not making the playoffs truly is bullshit. It would take a gigantic meltdown by the Saints to lose at home to the Bucs though. Sorry man.

It's the system. Cards have one bad loss all year, on road at Rams, who were 6-6 at one point a few weeks back, so barely even a bad loss.

When your losses are to Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and St. Louis, you've done the best with a very tough schedule.

Even 10-6 is bullshit when 8-8 gets in.

But 11-5 from NFC West is like being 10-2 from SEC and not getting a BCS invite.

They play in the toughest division in football for six games, then had a non-divisional schedule that featured 5 other playoff contenders in Colts, Saints, Panthers, Eagles, Lions, and four east coast time zone games.

This defense has been incredible. Palmer easily leads the NFL in interceptions that lead to 3-n-out points, and that cost points.

Yesterday he cost Arizona 9 points of FGs, and gifted Seattle 3 points on own-Red-Zone INT.

Yet all the defense did was allow 10 points.

so 2 really good defenses "exposed" a weakness in a qb? can we say the seahawks "exposed" drew brees when they met?

but yes, if you can turn the seahawks one dimensional, they will be beatable. Wilson isn't "there" yet to be able to beat a great defense like SF or AZ single handedly, particularly with their current receiving core. The threat of the run and bootleg action is what makes Seattle's offense great. Wilson can make throws from the pocket, we've seen that all year, but he's not going to really dissect a defense getting 35+ attempts, especially if its among the elite defenses

Its pretty easy to gameplan for. He always just picks up huge chunks of yards on the ground because the defense just gives it to him. Won't be there in the playoffs.

Sucks when you can't even MANAGE to win a home game where the opposing QB is throwing the game. I'm sure this will be a nonissue come playoff time though

Yeah after watching the Seahawks game yesterday I think that a darkhorse team in the NFC making a SB run is no longer out of the realm of possibility.

when your 2 likely wildcard teams are good teams like Carolina and San Francisco, it says something. The NFC is pretty stacked, and the Eagles could give any of these teams a run for their money assuming they make it. Smart money is still on Nawlins or Seattle, but yeah.

They've lost their most valuable asset--their aura of invincibility at home. Couple that with a few shady recent performances that DC's can draw from and it's not looking good for Seattle.

No surprise really, though...black mans kryptonite has always been the pocket.

There was a time when the NFC West was the bonus games for the league and got the benefit of getting in with non impressive records.
System sucks because fans want the best teams playing each other. Yeah the 7-9 Seahawks won their playoff game (maybe a fluke) but you kinda feel cheated that you weren't able to get a quality matchup because the sub par record getting into the playoffs thing plays around in your head.

tbh i don't think it sucks, give the fact that there is only a small number of games and some teams don't even face each other, it's right that inner division games define the play offs. It is only right that you guys are not in the play offs given the fact that you only lost to strong teams (and rams), which means you lost because other were better, not because someone was unprepared or had a fluky bad game or whatever. tbh i'm impressed with what you guys have done, given that your first rounder was out the whole season.

There has never been any mystery as to what the best way to play the Seattle offense is. Why? Because we don't have elite play makers on the outside. The only problem is, there aren't many defenses in the league that can play us at the line of scrimmage, and in the secondary in a way that would warrant this statement of weakness exposure. If we win this last game, there is a strong possibility we would only have to face one of the tough defenses in the worst case scenario, and at home to boot. And regardless of losing one game at home in two years, it's still a very tough place to play. So even in this scenario, I am very optimistic in regards to our chances of making it out of the NFC.

But that's the beauty of the NFC, there are probably four teams that could legitimately represent the conference. But, the most complete opponent IMO is the Niners. Elite defense, and an offense with many play makers (more than our offense). So, hopefully this seeding works in our favor, and some of the big dogs eat each other.
