Is it me or have these two genres almost completely blended together in the modern era?

It could be, but I think rap and hiphop are definitely one and the same now and have been for a while.

Yeah tbh. There've been hybrids in this new generation of music. Some of it is IPod worthy, some of it sucks.

Pretty much. Trash like Miley Cyrus continue to blur the line of the typical "rap/r&b/hip-hop" station with lame ass soft contemporary garbage because she made a couple of tracks with Juicy J after blowing him and his crew.

Fifty Cent and Bone ruined hip hop by making it into a shitty R&B.

Nah, there's still a difference.... "rap" is the commercialized shit you hear on the radio that barely sounds different from pop or R&B, "hip-hop" tends to be the more conscious, intelligent underground form of the genre....

LOL singing faggots in Bone supposed to be hardcore hiphop. Can't believe how shitty they got from Eternal and on when Creepin was such a solid EP.

Yes it is. Have you ever looked up any definition for it? Did you play the Youtube clip and listen to the rhythm?

Aerosmith was rapping before the term came about. Here are three links:

rap music - genre of African-American music of the 1980s and 1990s in which rhyming lyrics are chanted to a musical accompaniment; several forms of rap have emerged (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/rap+music)

6. Rap music
the real definition of rap music is using fast paced rhyming verses accompanied with a heavy beat an synthesizing rhythms. (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rap%20music)

a : a rhythmic chanting often in unison of usually rhymed couplets to a musical accompaniment (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/rap)

Maybe this is your definition for rap:

1. Rap music
Summed up in five words: Nigga, ho, bitch, pussy, rims (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rap%20music)

You're fucking crazy E. 1999 is a classic, every song from top to bottom is good. One of the best rap albums to ever come out in my opinion. Dark production, and each member at their best.

They have "In Harmony" in their name, and you don't expect them to be singing? :lol

At that time the Art of War double disc is where they changed their sound because DJ U-Neek was no longer the sole producer, but when you compare that album today to the ones that came after, the Art of War seems like a "old school" BONE album looking back.

Such blasphemy. You're ruining your credibility when you say stuff like this. I'm willing to forgive and forget though.

Funny considering you thought Creepin' On a Come Up was the shit. You are literally the only person I've ever known who likes Bone, but dislikes C.O.A.C.U. It's the same time period, same production, same subject matter. Makes no sense. DJ U-Neek produced both..

Not many people know that BONE were big Genesis players as were most of the youth in America at that time, and they actually sampled twice from Eternal Champions, that old Genesis fighting game. Those are both my favorite tracks on the album.

Bone Thugs is tha shit. alot of rap these days you gotta be in a club to bump. i like the slow thick bass lines you cant really dance to. only smoke to. thats all gone. the closest genre that plays that is the music out of houston. ok, let me put my cowboy boots and randy rogers back on im getting nostalgic.
