One of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ expected big free agent targets next off-season is Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. According to a source of the NY Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/isola-knicks-offer-melo-money-rings-article-1.1471973?pgno=1), Melo may be open to joining the purple and gold if his good friend Kobe Bryant reaches out to him and promises an NBA championship:
A person familiar with Anthony’s thinking says that Kobe Bryant could be the X-factor in the Knicks’ negotiations with Carmelo. The Lakers will have cap space next summer and if Bryant promises Anthony that together they can make a run at a championship in Los Angeles, Dolan may be doomed.
Anthony owns a home in Southern California and his wife, La La, has spent a lot of time in Hollywood the last two years making movies.
When given the chance on Monday to clarify his future plans, Anthony took a pass, saying he’ll deal with his free agency “when the time comes.” That’s hardly a ringing endorsement.

I agree..Melo to LA is my brain child...I'm willing to fall on my sword for my child...:lol fact is we have nothing to lose with Melo in LA for Kobe's auld lang syne's tour....there's nothing else in the pipeline. I'd rather see Kobe go out with some bullets in the chamber vs that 2006 mess of a team
actually I take that back I'd rather he go out with spent shell casings all around but with competent soldiers at his side

Welshing faggot, you've never, not once, accepted the repercussions of being wrong and you're always wrong. Even in your OP you're wrong. Promising to pursue a title isn't the same a promising a title.

Of course it's true and it contradicts what you said which means you're a liar. Parker never promised a ring. Only foolish ass posers like Cedric up there would think any player could. No one has made that mistake, that I can recall. Even JT make it happen after the tattoo (most boss move off all time imo) and James hasn't stopped moving right along with his statement, and Riley paid off when he said he would the next season..
Only Cedric doesn't pay.

I know you trollin' ...but disagree. Tim is a winner. even winners lose sometimes.
But as Cully said the media by and large have given Duncan and Pop a pass for their failings last June.
Much like with Brady and the Belly with the Pats, the media loves them so much that they have overlooked their recent championship game failings because they had already established their championship pedigree. They did not want to re-write the narrative ... and Ray and his amazing shot made it that much easier to focus on the comeback instead of the collapse. And much like many spur fans it's easy to say well Lebron is great we should never have been that close ...but yet there it was 28, heck 19 even 7 seconds away from the title and they gave it back.
But to say that Duncan will be remembered a loser is wrong and I dont even agree with it. Duncan like you said was aces with a vintage performance for 47 minutes, to me Pop getting his britches dropped and spanked by the former video assistant is much more alarming and I love Pop.
I know if tim is in they secure that rebound (and the title) maybe he doesnt get it himself... heck maybe Wade grabs it ...but no way in hell does timmy allow Bosh to take his cookie, with the title on the line ...no way. Tim and Kobe is cut from a similar cloth .... even if Laker or spur fans on here hate to admit it ...

So Duncan doesn't get blamed for having to leave the game to go take a shit? He's been in the league long enough to know when he should be timing his shits...he also knows what he should and shouldn't be eating before a title game...he's just as much to blame as anyone...stop trying to deflect...He then turned around in Game 7 and missed two 3 ft attempts at the rim...He gave a title away in 6 and then again in 7 for good measure

two best players of the past decade. Shaq was more dominant and Lebron is owning the league right now but in between shaq's short dominant run and Lebron's extended Kobe and Duncan have been great players with great fundamentals that have helped win 9 championships and was lees than 30 seconds away from 10 ...5 each.
Yes, I think kobe is greater but for me it's close and when either fanbase act like there is some "great divide" to me that is being homerish tbh ...

That does not make any sense ...
But for the record does not matter because I did not have them winning the west ...
I also predicted one last finals run for Tim but i was just a season or two "early"

it's not close..like Hakeem said the 2 guard position is the toughest position in the league...Duncan gets in position and all he has to do is wait for the entry pass...incidentally as a SG Kobe also has a better post game than Duncan which is pathetic if you ask me...Duncan is a system player only...he could not thrive under the bright lights of a major franchise...he FAILED MISERABLY at international play which is the dead-give away...he then QUIT on his country (vowed to never play again; and didn't) and pouted like a little bitch after bringing home the Bronze medal..so no he's not even in Kobe's class..they are NOT cut from the same cloth and it's an insult to Kobe's dedication and hard work to even hint it

it's not close..like Hakeem said the 2 guard position is the toughest position in the league...Duncan gets in position and all he has to do is wait for the entry pass...incidentally as a SG Kobe also has a better post game than Duncan which is pathetic if you ask me...Duncan is a system player only...he could not thrive under the bright lights of a major franchise...he FAILED MISERABLY at international play which is the dead-give away...he then QUIT on his country (vowed to never play again; and didn't) and pouted like a little bitch after bringing home the Bronze medal..so no he's not even in Kobe's class..they are NOT cut from the same cloth and it's an insult to Kobe's dedication and hard work to even hint it
ride that out, Kool ...
i know it's part of your schtick to bash tim and praise Kobe ... If I could give you my "handle" I would ... you are a Kobe disciple like few others ...
I came in on that horse all chest out defending Kobe but now my focus is on the team moving forward 17 matters much more than Kobe's 6 or even "6"

^ my point is your best chance at seeing 17 is through Bean getting 6..the next two yrs should be your focus....once Kobe's done we're done for at least 10 yrs...it will take time to conform to the new CBA...we need to go balls out, in, deep, or whatever these next 2 yrs...why yall can't see it is baffling to me...

A preview of a NBA season and reporting a story that happened after the fact are entirely two different things.
As much as most of the are low-rent hacks, I find ESPN (especially Grantland) and CNN/SI reporting on sporting events to be fair to quite good. Predicting how a season will play out unless you choose the favorites is something else.
And It's not that I care that the media went after Pop or Tim I like them both. It's almost as if they know how grave "6" was and are having mercy on their poor souls. the SI piece I posted was not mean spirited... in fact, you could almost feel the sympathy dripping from the pages. That is why I brought up the Pats. If the Cowboys, Falcons or Lions had lost a SB the way Brady did his past few tries ... heck even if Peyton lost the last two SB's his one breakthrough would of been considered a fluke. Or to use hoops as that same article pointed out, Lebron as great as he is, would of been skewered for a finals loss SPo would be on a hotseat yet Pop and Tim got a pass ...that is the point. the media's "value" is irrelevant.
The bigger point is once a narrative is written ..it's hard to change.
Tim is clutch.
Pop is a great coach.
Brady is clutch.
Bill is amazing.
Bill B choked.
Tom Brady choked twice ...
Lebron is clutch.
Lebron is clutch .
Kobe is not clutch
Kobe is clutch.
"6"
All are true at some point yet the media drives the story they want to stick ... which is why I have such disdain for MVP awards ... Lebron winning has restored some "faith" but the award has been crap since the tail end of Mj's prime ...
just because they get it right every blue moon, doesnt make the award any less shitty ...

Maybe you don't understand what "failure" means. Failure means you didn't meet expectations. I showed you that the Lakers were expected to win the WCF (and the Finals by some). I didn't see the Spurs in there anywhere. That means the Spurs didn't fail to meet expectations.
If you buy 100 shares of Dell and you expect it to double, and it triples but you sell before it doubles again, did you fail?
The media's value is only irrelevant if it suits you. It's more valuable than your assessment that a 7 game Finals series loss is worse than getting your shit plowed thoroughly all fucking season capped off by the most dominant series ever over the Lakers. That's the same Lakers team that was expected to be in the Finals.
So... what are you yapping about again?

Losing in the play-offs with a Kobe-less squad is considered a noble death...losing in the finals with a "stacked" team after you had it WON...and LITERALLY giving the title back to the guy you defeated all because you had to go take a shit should be punishable by firing squad tbh

I also never said that the spurs did not accomplish more than last year's Lakers ...(great measuring stick btw)
My point is that "6" will remain while the sweep is long forgotten. It it consoles you that is fine ...do whatever you need to do better about that sick feeling in your stomach you will get everytime they replay that bitch ...
Teams overcome expectations all the time. Teams fail to meet them just as often. We failed miserably I though we were a wCF (not a Finalist) team ...
None of that changes what happened in "6". The more you lash out the more I know it hurts. Not only did my team suck last year we are worse this year. Our future looks a bit sketchy and at least you can watch duncan play this year while I have to watch Kobe sit in Armani suits along with our PG rotation ...
Does ANY of that make YOU feel better? I'll be honest I hope so. Because none of that did ANYTHING for me in 1985 ....

Here's how it works: If your team beat mine, talk mad shit. If your team got swept the fuck out, you cannot talk any shit. You cannot use injury as an excuse when it occurred so late in the season. You cannot use any excuses and you cannot just dismiss the loss as insignificant. It was an historical blowout at Staples Center. You need to come to grips with that. MVP are Media's Pick award...the only reason Kobe even has 1 is because Larry Bird of all people threatened to invalidate the award by giving all of his back if they didn't give it to Kobe...he said Kobe was the best player of his generation and was shocked at the biased treatment...I guess the media didn't expect to hear such a stern threat from Larry...it's why Larry Bird and Magic are equals in my view....Larry stepping up like that for Kobe showed me something I never expected

Bullshit. Failure is not meeting expectations. Every team in the league sets out to win a ring, but the realistic goals aren't nearly as lofty. Realistically they want a good showing, not a huge dropoff, not disappoint every fan they have, not go tits up in the post season. That's how it went for the Spurs. Can't say the same for LA.
No, your failure was all season and into the post season. The 1st round was the PERIOD on yougotdestroyedPERIOD and yet you've spent 100x more time on here discussing that 28 seconds than the entire season of the Lakers.
Apples and oranges, bro... don't brush that truth aside with the "you mad, talk to the hand" retort.

Except I'm not cursed with Asperger's like you. Ever heard of proofreading your posts? Are you using voice to text or what?
I get expectations.
I made my expectations well known here, on this forum, for your reading pleasure. I made no bones about it. It wasn't popular, but I said it because those were my expectations. Before the season, I even said if we ever made it back to the Finals I'd be satisfied.
I challenge you to show me where I ever expected more. Find that, then tell me how disappointed I should be. Otherwise, your little "I'm different" schtick never worked on me. You know it.

More Laker Boots to Spur Asses! :rollin :lmao :rollin
Whose man ass is Tammy staring at? The other two losers are looking straight ahead. Tammy? Looking down. :wow
Here’s the likely starting five for the Lakers against Utah on Friday: Kendall Marshall, Jodie Meeks, Nick Young, Shawne Williams and Pau Gasol.
Before the 2013-14 season, there was absolutely no way to forecast such a line up for Mike D’Antoni’s squad, but with a plethora of injuries wreaking havoc on the roster, that’s how things look for a team on a six-game losing streak after a relatively impressive 13-13 start.
The “Games Missed” list is borderline ridiculous with only 32 played thus far:
Kobe Bryant: 26 :lol
Steve Nash: 26 :lol

Well, I see you're not fit company this evening. Sorehead.
Quite fit, sir. I tried to have an engaging conversation with you about the best prediction in sports history, but you were having none of it.

But, if he brings a 17th & the 6th (for purposes of this place) then Kool will have made the greatest call in NBA Forum history if not American Sports History.

DMC my poor misguided son ...
I post here all the time.
I just brought up 28 seconds recently cuz the article I posted was great stuff and because you blokes keep deflecting ...you stop discussing the sweep or last years payroll and I'll stop ...but you won't and neither will I. Also find where I said the Lakers were legit contenders the past 3 years? By your logic then the Lakers turd sandwich shouldn't bother me since I had "no expectations" ...
Gtfo with your bullshit and continue your recovery what stage you on now ...dog?
BTW you do realize name calling, changing subjects, grammar jabs all prove i m getting to you and I really wasn't trying to ...

You do realize the cock slurping with the parting jab is a chickenshit way to do business, right? You're hedging here, trying to play both sides against the middle and it's not going to work with me.
The stage I am in is called "back to the playoffs" stage, unlike you which is "hanging out on Spurs forums while my namesake is ass fucking my team into oblivion" stage.

What the hell you talking about and why you so angry, dog?
Lakers are shitty, Spurs near the top of the West and you have no expectations anyway ...life should be all good.
I aint gotta play shit down any middles I say whatever I feel ...
