Kobe Bryant (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3118) doesn’t follow me on Twitter, he infamously doesn’t follow (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/gasol-marshall-lead-lakers-over-060652283--nba.html) Dwight Howard (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3818) on Twitter any more, and unless you’re one of the lucky 853 (https://twitter.com/kobebryant/following), he probably doesn’t follow you on Twitter.

One of the luckier unluckies is new Los Angeles Lakers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/lal) point guard Kendall Marshall (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/5019), who went from being a celebrated lottery pick to league washout in just a year and a half after being selected by the Phoenix Suns (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/pho) in the 2012 NBA draft. Traded to (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/phoenix-deals-marcin-gortat-washington-deal-could-win-223000143--nba.html) and then released by the Washington Wizards (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/was) before the season started, Marshall was working in the D-League until a depleted Lakers squad – working without Steve Nash (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3103), Bryant, Jordan Farmar (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4154) and Steve Blake (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3741) – reached out to the University of North Carolina product with an unguaranteed deal.

Given starter’s minutes for the first time in his five-game season, Marshall responded with a 20-point, 15-assist game (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/gasol-marshall-lead-lakers-over-060652283--nba.html) in a needed win over the Utah Jazz (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/uth) on Friday night. Beaming from the effort, Marshall wants one more bit of recognition in the wake of his newfound stardom – a Twitter follow from Kobe Bryant:

@kobebryant (https://twitter.com/kobebryant) #followback (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23followback&src=hash)?
— Kendall Marshall (@KButter5) January 4, 2014 (https://twitter.com/KButter5/statuses/419592890809982977)
Seeing as how Bryant has tweeted just twice since Dec. 19, and considering the tweet he sent out just before Marshall sent his plea out …
… we’re not expecting a follow back any time soon. Those things are kind of desperate, anyway.
