The world's most avid Spurs fans may have been uncovered.

in Greensboro, N.C., named their newborn son Parker Duncan Ginobili Till.John and Rhonda Till, former San Antonians living an Ginobili Till.

Parker D.G. Till, born Sunday afternoon, weighed in at eight pounds, 12 ounces.

John Till, a 37-year-old chef who graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1986, said he and his wife decided while watching the Spurs' run to the 2005 NBA championship that if their child were a boy, they would honor their favorite players by naming the child after them.

"Rhonda was fine with Parker and Duncan," Till said, "but she wasn't real sure about Ginobili. I convinced her that all three were the Spurs' leaders, so we should use all three names."
Till said he became a Spurs fan as a youngster and attended many games at HemisFair Arena, when tickets in the upper deck went for $4.50, and Spurs such as George Gervin, Artis Gilmore and Larry Kenon stayed on the court after games to sign autographs.

Till said he met Ronda after she moved to San Antonio in 1995 and they attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church. They married in 1996 and followed the Spurs avidly, even after they moved in 2001.

"We think the Spurs set a great example for kids," Till said, "because they show great character, pride and teamwork."

What ever happened to the good old days when parents dressed their kids in sports jerseys every day and went overboard with sports themed nurseries?

I once heard of a guy in my country that tried to name his child after a soccer match final score, something like "two to one".

Actually, I like the name Parker for either a boy or a girl. And I like Duncan as a first name for a boy. Ginobili? Eh, not so much.

I don't understand why these fans naming their babies have to use the player's last name. They couldn't have named the baby Anthony Timothy Emanuel Till?

My best friend is a rabid Suns fan, and for the better part of the last two years, has been claiming he'll name his first born son "Amare." No way naming your kid Ginobili is worse than that. At least with Ginobili you can call him Gino for short.

Besides, Tony's dad is American.

Well, that's pretty damn weird but they at least picked three people who probably won't do anything to really embarass the kid. Just ask my old friend, Kobe Shaquille Karl Gary Jackson.

How about Robinson?

I always thought I would like to have twin boys just so I could name them Duncan and Robinson. I think that would be very cool. But I guess it wouldn't be right for me to have kids just so I can name them after my favorite athletes.
