Losing to a Westbrook-less okc team on our own floor would definitely force the fo's hand to make the critical trade this team needs...

I don't care if I'm right. I just can't see how this team as constructed can beat contenders without having to resort to luck or injuries. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong though...i just don't see it happening

Yeah because that's the only option right? There's no such thing as trading picks or god forbid one of the big three? Yes I know it's hard to conceive but you can trade our better players too

One of the big three? thats impossible, this team can only make adjustments on what they have right now
I dont want this team to lose, they need to focus more, that means better shooting and better defense, like those hot teams do.

Same here but I wouldn't be shocked if we lose again to OKC. This forum will erupt and i'll be pissed but Spurs could still be coasting. It's hard to tell, we aren't looking like world beaters but maybe we don't need to be, just beat up on all the shitty teams and keep it in cruise control til when it counts.

Personally, I think we do lose to the Thunder tomorrow. We have too many injuries. No Green on the perimeter. And I know I am highly critical of Splitter and I hate the guy, but his length and Defense would help tomorrow. We are staring at Tim Duncan to do everything on the inside tomorrow. We have no rim protection outside of Timmy. I also don't see nearly enough Defense on the Perimeter to slow OKC. I think we actually lose double digits. No, I am not wishing for a loss either. The Spurs right now obviously aren't a Finals team. Healthy? Honestly, no I don't think the Spurs can get back to the Finals. Am I cliff jumping? No, this is just what I see, I could be wrong, I am a lot. But I'm worried the Spurs don't have enough scoring when needed most. Who is going to get the basket when the Spurs absolutely need one? I don't really know. Parker isn't the same guy this year. He isn't scoring when it is absolutely needed, he isn't sharing the ball either or making plays for others. Timmy has slowed a little. Leonard hasn't taken the next big step. Be it because of coaching, or just because it is taking longer than thought. The Spurs just seem to need another guy imo. And there isn't a real obvious answer of where it is going to come from. Not without trading one of our 4 most important players. Even then, can we really afford to lose the Marco's, Mills, Green, and Diaw's of this team? Not really. The Spurs FO is going to have to pull of the perfect deal imo...

The Spurs somehow pull a win out tomorrow. I look like an idiot.

I can understand the sentiment. In past years when the Spurs have struggled early, a few key wins around trade deadline have changed the spurs minds about pursuing a trade opportunity.

A win now may change the mindset of the Spurs front office for better or worse.

I'm afraid not.

Durant 30,9 ppg in this season.

Last 5 games
46 vs POR
30 vs SAC
54 vs GSW
36 vs HOU
37 vs MEM

Take OKC vs GSW game for example, Iggy -one of best perimeter defender in the league- tried so hard to contain Durant, the result? 54 points of KD.
Leonard'll try to do a good job but Durant's consistency is absolutely staggering in a game. He's a monster, one best of the best.

However, Spurs'll miss Danny tonight and they haven't a decent SF backup to spell Leonard.

Last year they were lucky because the west was weakened by the injuries. The Spurs with the same type of team they always run with since their last title almost snuck in a title.

This year by their record against the best teams we see that they really are not a serious contender unless they get lucky again with injuries taking out the best teams.
Management has been way too conservative keeping the same players year in year out and thinking just changing role players will be good enough.

I really don't think they are very good. They are good in keeping the same team together but not very good in upgrading the roster. They rode the lucky lottery ping pong ball bounces that landed them both Robinson and Duncan then made a couple of great draft picks in Parker and manu and have ridden those for over 13 years now. Without Lucky lottery(Duncan) The Spurs would have never had any titles with this current conservative management.

I lost respect for management when I saw the Lakers win back to back to back(2000-2002) while the Spurs had both Robinson and Duncan on the roster, that is just pitiful for a management to squander those 3 years because they could not surround Robinson/Duncan with better players (passed on Sprewell and R. Wallace because they were afraid of their character issues). The spurs won 2 out of 6 years with Robinson/Duncan and I say that is not good. Didn't even go to the finals in the other 4 years.

I feel like we at least tried to upgrade the roster in the early 2000's. The Anderson signing was an attempt to get talent it just never panned out. We also made key signings in Bruce Bowen, Robert horry, Michael Finley, and Brent Barry. I really feel like the fA stopped upgrading the roster after the 06 mavs series and just got really lucky in 07. When was the last time the FO actually went after a guy with horry or Barry's calibur??
