My head just about exploded. This guys is bad-mediocre at just about anything basketball related, at least for NBA standards. He's at best a 3rd big on any decent team, but we have him starting next to Timmy. I just... *sigh* :depressed

Remember, we signed him instead of a backup SF to Kawhi.

He honestly doesn't belong in the nba, he's a d league player that brings absolutely nothing to the team other than dunking, which he sometimes fails to do.

I'd trade him for a bag of chips.

has Baynes been that terrible in his spot minutes that Ayres is getting all these minutes?

Seeing as Ayres plays better defense and actually is functional on both ends of the flour, unlike the glorified 15th man, yes.

Reality is also a shitty thing, and the reality is the guy fucking sucks. How can anyone who's been watching basketball for years defend this shitty player? :lmao

:cry he knows how to dunk so he must be good

Has nothing to do with dunking.

Clearly someone who's never watched Baynes play.

Both Ayres and Baynes haven't been good enough to be part of a team with championship aspirations. I think it matters more than to know who is the less worst.

Ayres didn't even attempt to take a charge, tbh:lol..

He just stood there and watched them score on 2 or 3 possessions, he didn't try to contest it nor did he try to take the charge..it was a confusing sequence..

if they've both been so terrible why has ayres gotten the lion's share of the minutes?

Baynes has done more positive defensively in one playoff series (especially against Dwight Howard last year) than Ayres has done through his whole NBA career. If you think Ayres standing in the paint being a traffic cone praying that the opposing player clanks his shot is playing defense...

Not having the level to be a rotation player on a contender doesn't mean you're terrible. It's a pretty high standard.

the root of my question is why Ayres is getting the big minutes over baynes. not that i think baynes is going to light the world on fire, but is there a reason why he hasn't been given the same opportunity that Ayres has? its not like Ayres has really been playing well enough to warrant to hold the minutes he's getting.

Seeing as this year the spurs are +12.5 with him on the floor with Duncan and Parker and + 19.5 with just him and Duncan, I'd say he's doing more than what you attest to say.

Run along now.

Ayres has had some decent games lately. Now, it's sure he is getting a better opportunity which I guess has a lot to do with what happened in training camp and practices. Spurs and Pop were also high enough on Ayres prior his start with Spurs to offer him a $3.6M contract.

Ayres gives good head? It's strange that a guy who was bench fodder for the Pacers who didn't even get a whiff or an offer from them comes in and in his first year gets preference over Baynes and even cuts into Matty's minutes.

Worst hands in the league. I have never seen a player juggle/lose so many passes and rebounds. Dude sucks.

This far along into the season, it's pretty obvious Ayres struggles incredibly against .500 teams or better. Yeah sure he can dunk against teams like the Bucks and Jazz and his terrible defense doesn't really come into light against those teams, but when the Spurs play a team that is somewhat good, he falls apart.

It's amazing that Pop hasn't at least tried to switch things up by now. Try Boner, Banes, or Thomas. If one of them can at least have some moves on the offense and doesn't sit in the paint for 10 seconds while guarding no one, he's worth a shot in the rotation and is a huge upgrade to Errors.

He really makes you appreciate Tiago since he's like the opposite of him.
