Lets compare Durant's first 7 years to Kobes first 8 years. Durant played 1 year of college so we will be fair to Kobe and give him 8 years.

KD is the best scorer since MJ and is having the best individual season since MJ.

While I've been hard on Beta, he's done really well without Alpha and has kept the team at the top of the Conference on his own, you have to give him credit right now.

But there's a lot of basketball to be played in the Regular Season so I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up averaging similar stats as last year and Bron took over again.

It's crazy how just a year ago people thought Lebron was a once in a generation type of a player, KD has easily been on the same level, if not above this very season. :wow

Are we gonna act like Lebron didn't average close to these numbers during the playoffs in 2009 tbh? (I didn't realize they were actually better numbers until I looked them up)

35.3 9.1 7.3 on .510% shooting in 14 games :king

For reference Durant is putting up these numbers

January
36.9 5.8 5.8 on .524% shooting in 12 games. :(

Very useful post, prove me otherwise, bro.

Prove that Durant's season is as good or better than Lebron's season last year. If you even can begin to argue that it's potentially better (which you suggest you can), than there ought to be quite a bit of obvious, conclusive evidence.

D-Wade
01-23-2014, 12:56 PM
Biggest knee-jerk ever. Wade in 09 looked this good too, if not better. So did LBJ in 09 and yes even Bean in 09. Until Durant does something worth a damn in the postseason, it just means he's a really good player. But better than LBJ?! Bullshit. Dude hasn't even proven that he's the consistent go to alpha on his team.

Can't wait to see what happens when Russ gets back.

Ok. Same TS% as Lebron last season, higher WS/48 and is on pace to have higher WS in a single season than Lebron's ever did and his current WS/48 is higher than Bron's has ever been.

Raw stats: KD is averaging 31 ppg on 50/41/88 shooting with 7.7 rpg 5.1 apg 1.5 spg 0.8 bpg

Lebron averaged 26.8 ppg 8 rpg 7.3 apg 1.7 spg 0.9 bpg on 56/41/75 shooting

KD has led his team to the top seed in the Western Conference, beating the 1st,2nd,5th and 6th seed just in the last week, averaging 43/5/5 on 73%TS, beating the Spurs on a b2b after beating Portland.

Oh, and he's doing this without a legit 2nd option on offense.

Because of how winshares are calculated, the Heat's final 43~ games would almost certainly give Lebron a higher winshare amount for that stretch given that they were 40-3.

Same thing for the 66 win Cavs. Almost certain you could find a stretch in there that would match the Durant stretch. It's too much effort to calculate winshares by hand though.

:lol higher WS/48 when its a mere .001 higher.

Lebron had a considerably higher eFG%, higher rebound %, assist %, and higher PER.

Durant is taking probably 4-5 more shots per game than Lebron did, when you add in FGAs and FTAs, so of course his scoring will be a bit higher, but Lebron is a considerably better floor leader and defender.

Are you seriously comparing this stretch that Durant is having, to Lebron's stretch last year where he shot under 52% in only 3 out of 26 games, and led his team on that 27 game win streak, despite Wade playing hurt and even missing some of the games?

Yea Westbrook has been out, but Reggie Jackson is no joke himself. He looks fully capable of being a 15-20 PPG scorer, and has basically done just that since Westbrook went out. He's not Westbrook, but he's better than people think, and has a lot of talent. Don't make it seem like Durant is doing this with no help, just because Westbrook is out.

nobody is saying Durant will beat Lebron in the Finals. Obviously basketball is all about matchups and like poster above said, Miami is matchup nightmare for OKC. And I agree they would not last 6 games vs. the Heat. It would take KD to play at Jordan levels and Westbrook to play at top PG level in order to have a chance in hell vs Miami. Miami has fast strong defenders that would not allow scrubs like Reggie Jackson, Lamb and African Policeman Ikaka shine.

Only slow weak teams like the Spurs make those scrubs look like allstars :lol

I also agree Pacers and Spurs matchup better with Heat. But at this point only the Pacers IMO. Spurs look like the game 6 collapse finally caught up to them. (As I predicted) Will they ever recover? chances are NO. but one can only hope MVParker can at least carry the team throughout.

OP is wrong. But if you watch them play thegap is narrowing. Durant was already the better pure scorer and now with Lebron's slippage on defense, Durant has crept a bit closer. I still think Lebron is clearly the best player still but KD is the only one close and I would say he is a notch above PG.

1. Lebron

2. Durant

3. George

Durant is closer to Lebron than anyone else Paul, George etc is to KD.

Only two players legitimately worth max in new CBA.

Been there...done this.

As I said in the pre-ejac thread I made about this before, James is better but Durant should pass him as soon as next season but more likely the following season. Playing as a perimeter player with that huge frame will start to take it's toll on James' knees. He will still be very good, but he will slow significantly as he gets on the other side 30.
