we are talking about 45 year old Derek Fisher coming into your arena and taking a shit on your players.

Jeremy Lamb, this scrub would shine shoes vs another team. Yet Spurs make him look like the next coming of Shane Battier

Ibaka is a decent big, no doubt. But Spurs make him look like a hybrid of Hakeem, Jordan and Dikembe Mutombo on steroids. Ibaka vs. the Spurs makes prime Mutombo look like just another african selling CDs in a street corner

and last but not least Reggie Jackson. The dear old Spurs make this damn scrub look like Isaiah Thomas :lmao

and this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. What makes you think it would be any different in the playoffs??

and we are not even considering a healthy Westbrook in the picture :lol

how do you guys feel about that?

Come on man this has been the case the past few seasons and the playoffs in 2012. It's significant no matter how you spin it

Well, 2011 is 2011. Both teams aren't the same.

2012 was more us choking, and the refs than them beating us. And Harden.

Both teams are different, so that comparison shouldn't be made.

Right now, the Spurs don't look like title contenders. Like this, they'd be lucky to have dark horse status.

Still a long ways to go, though.

Disagree. Both teams play at same style and speed. Both teams have same pimary core. And Spurs still have the same matchup disadvantage.

we are talking about Derek Fisher, Ibaka, Jackson and Lamb coming in and bending the Spurs over. Sure I'm happy if Durant and Westbrook do it. But it Fisher/Ibaka/Lamb and Jackson do it, it's pretty pathetic imo

and ppl can't say it hasn't happened in the playoffs before

Durant + Westbrook are averaging 46 pts a game vs. the Spurs. Is that your definition of "eliminate"?

Speaking specifically to the Reggie Jackson issue, as I have mentioned elsewhere and some others have begun to bring up as well, our defense is DESIGNED to let scrubs like that go off on us. I continually watch our guards get screened HARD off opposing pgs, so that they only way they can avoid a foul call is to go around the screener. At that point, though rather than switching off temporarily to let our guard get back into the defensive picture, our bigs back down toward the basket, literally begging the opposing guard (or 3 or whoever it is) to shoot the midrange jumper over them.

And guess what? THEY DO!!!

Our players are doing exactly what the coaching staff is telling them to do and the rest of the league has essentially figured it out. Elite teams like OKC havenot only figured it out burt incorporate it into their game plan.

That's how I feel about it.

then Spurs need to go back to the drawing board. It's just simple math. If KD + WB still average around 46ppg, and you allow these scrubs to go off, you most likely going to GUARANTEE OKC scoring close to 100 EVERY SINGLE GAME.

it's simple math. you can't bank on Spurs scoring over 100 a game over a 7 game series.

again IMO they need to go back to the drawing board. It's simple arithmetic :rolleyes

Lamb and Jackson? Honestly? OKC did really good job with their bench and young players.

They didn't sign free agents because they didn't want to delay improvement of his young players.

All those guys -Lamb, Jackson, Jones, now Adams- played in their first seasons a long time, not only garbage time. (You can see Pop in that rookie situation?)

Harden's trade could be stupid at that moment but they developed their drafts-picks/trade so well.

My point exactly.

If the playoffs started tomorrow, the Spurs would pretty much be fucked.

Good thing it's still only January.

I would say Jackson and Fisher have drained jumpers on any Spur guarding them. Sure Parker is no great defender, but everyone knows that. Still no Spur defender in front of those guys fared much better.

And that's not even mentioning Lamb and Ibaka also went off and they were no where near Parker.

So I'd say singleing out Parker for 4 guys demolishing the team is nitpicking and not getting close to the problem imo

but I do concede Parker is no where near his MVP levels on all facets(offense, defense, etc) As I been saying this team has a chance in hell IF and ONLY IF Parker plays at MVP level AND Kawhi at Allstar level. So as you can see, at the moment the spurs are FUCKED

I couldn't agree with you more. What I don't understand is why the coaching staff continues to have our players continue the same failing tactic over and over again.

I realize that your question was directed to Hater, but if I may interject: the problem with heroballin on D as well as on O is a physical impossibility…unless you are named Michael Jordan or LeBron James. The amount of energy that TP is required to expend to fulfill his job on our offense is such that to expect him to exert the same level of energy on the defensive end is simply unrealistic. He (TP) was named like the second or third fastest pg in the league, and covers more miles than any other pg in the league save one. So to expect him to do all of that AND make the heroic moves on the defensive end as well for the number of minutes he plays (more than anyone else on the team) is simply unrealistic.

It is not surprising to me, nor an indication of failure on TP's part, that his heroics on the offensive end means that someone other than him needs to take on the biggest scoring guards on the defensive end.

That is not to say that Parker is a good defender…he is not. It is just to say that, when looking at the entire scheme of things, he is doing as much as his coaches and teammates want and need from him.

Lamb is not a scrub. He is a very good young player and came up big in UCONN's championship run so he can also be clutch.
