$22 million over the cap and you're giving a 6-year deal to a kicker though? :lmao

not even sure I understand this contract...this along with the possibility of extra points getting taken away means he will be on the field for what, 5-10% of the game? I wonder how much that equates on an hourly pay rate for his services.

The Raiders are going to go into free agency with over 60 million in cap space, and will likely be close to 70 million after some expected cuts. Our good owner gone bad bit the dust, and we're at least trying to clean up.

I have no problem with signing a good kicker for a solid contract. The Broncos franchised Prater a couple seasons ago and then nigga got paid....it has worked out well. He missed one field goal all season and broke the distance record.

I FUCKING GUARANTEE YOU his numbers drop off DRAMATICALLY this year. I FUCKING WANT YOU DEAD JERRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

This idiot only knows 6 year deals! Marion Barber, Newman, Roy Williams both get the long term deals and suck balls the next year. Watch, the same with Dan Bailey. I fucking HATE the fact that I'm a Cowboy fan.

AdamSchefter: Cowboys are discussing hiring former Lions OC Scott Linehan as their play caller, per @Edwerderespn and @mortreport.

lions fan, is this another lol jerruh offer? iirc this guy is a pass happy faggot who doesn't care about the run game, so he should be right up da' boys alley.

Worst Contract of the Year In a stunning late upset, it’s the capped-out Cowboys (http://grantland.com/features/bill-barnwell-jerry-jones-cowboys/) giving kicker Dan Bailey a seven-year contract!!! OK, maybe this isn’t a real award, but I had to find a space to talk about it. This, even for Jerry Jones, is a stunningly dumb move. The Cowboys just handed Bailey a deal that guarantees him $7.5 million and averages $3.2 million per year. They have absolutely no cap flexibility and need to save every penny they can, which would leave kicker — the most fungible position in football and a place where you can find competent guys as undrafted free agents every single year like, not coincidentally, Dan Bailey — as an obvious place to try to save money.

There’s nothing wrong with Bailey — he’s a fine kicker. Football Outsiders suggests that he’s been worth 16.5 points over average on field goals over the past three years, even while he’s been almost exactly league-average on kickoffs. And yes, some of the length of the deal is to pad out the money involved and spread the signing bonus over a longer period. When you’re doing that to create the cap space needed to lock up a kicker, you’re probably doing something stupid. Put it this way: There are nine players signed through 2019, and they’re almost all superstars.3 (http://grantland.com/features/the-nfl-honor-roll/#fn-3) Cutler and Bailey are now the only players signed through 2020. Thanks, Jerry!
