Sinaloa, led by Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, supplies 80% of the drugs (http://www.businessinsider.com/sinaloa-cartel-runs-the-chicago-drug-game-2013-9) entering the Chicago area and has a presence in cities across the U.S.
There have long been allegations that Guzman, considered (http://www.treasury.gov/press-center/press-releases/Pages/tg1392.aspx) to be "the world’s most powerful drug trafficker," coordinates (http://www.newsweek.com/el-chapo-guzman-mexicos-most-powerful-drug-lord-64321) with American authorities.
