You talking bout expectations. Wrong argument. Wrong year. -10 points son.
Last year's Spurs had a worst season. Considering all of the injuries we suffered, to even make the playoffs was a win in my book. If we were healthy - and got swept anyway - you'd have a point. You guys, OTOH, were healthy. You guys had a great RS. You guys were seconds away from a championship. SecondsPERI:lolD.
Say what you will to save face, but the Spurs had a worse year. You were rightthere. It was like having a chance to screw Beyoncé's brains out. Only to realize you have Erectile Dysfunction. I'd feel really bad if I were a BNSF.

the media and bandwagoners expected Lakers to be a dynasty rivaling Heat with their offseason. No one expected Spurs to even make it to the Finals. So Lakers had the worse season based on expectations, but it didn't end well for either team. Spurs will have to figure out how to get back and Lakers have to figure out how to re-animate Dr. Buss.

We've been over this. The stupid decisions the FO made is what caused those injuries. Combine that with the fact the Lakers were supposed to "cruise" to the Finals, and you have the biggest flop in NBA history.
A Finals run is ALWAYS better than missing the playoffs/early playoff exit. Sure, choking away a title "hurts" more, but it isn't "worse" from a success standpoint.
Fans who prefer non-contention to the pain of losing in the late rounds/Finals are scared of the pain. I'm a Raiders fan, and I'd kill for a chokejob in the Superbowl over the disaster of the last decade.
Yeah, the Spurs went limp when it was time to fuck, but the Lakers never got in the bedroom.

mids with the goods. as a Niner fan, i'd take the last 3 seasons, despite coming up empty handed, than the shitty several years or more prior. Least both Spurs and Niners were a couple plays away from winning, can't ask for too much more than the chance.

Exactly. The last 3 Niner exits were Cubs' level territory of painful, but no way in hell would you trade those for the Raiders' last 3 seasons, which have been pain free, but completely unremarkable.

Either you win or you losePERIOD. In the end, we both lost. Yours was much worse. Why? Because your Big 3 been there done that for over a decade together. Pop was undefeated in the Finals. Y'all had the bubbly ready. Even Amy was wet for Timmy that night. When y'all took that late game 6 lead, many BNLF's like myself were at the local grocery store getting lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, miracle whip, mustard, etc., for that shit sandwhich we were getting ready to eat. But after that game, I went back to The Commissary! to get my money back. Instead, I celebrated The Choke! at Popeye's. And Amy went back to The Gym!

it was harsh enough to those fans that the spurs raised their hopes high, only to disappoint them badly in the end. Spurs could've beaten Miami last season in 6 and they were really close to it with only half a minute left on the clock, which on the other hand means the Heat's 13' championship was just as much a fluke as their 06' one tbh.

Fun fact: The Lakers are considered the NBA's most successful franchise despite having 1 less title than the Celtics.
Why do you think that is?
Take the Culburn "you're in last place with us" cop out all you want (which is simply a chickenshit way to not have to admit a rival had a better season than you), but you can't give yourself a chance to win anything if you don't make the playoffs/Finals.

It's why Culburn's "you're in last place with us" shtick breaks down. Any fan with any kind of common sense would prefer making the playoffs (even if it doesn't result in a title) over non-contention.

I'm not so delusional as to think any of my favorite teams will win it all every year. Not realistic. I enjoy watching them play, win, lose, or draw. Every year.
That being said, with Navarro out probably most of this coming year, you guys will take a step back defensively. They choked on the biggest stage, like your Spurs did. It was fun watching it unfold. In both games. Now the Seattle Thunder and Seattle Seahawks will ensure that neither of your teams get back to the big stage for a loooooong time. :lol

sushibreaths are lucky enough that the chinks didn't also have an asshole as leader of state, otherwise the chinks would've already nuked up all four sushibreah islands most likely, as a punishment for their prime minister's provocative behaviors. Then when you wake up the next morning (hope you're living in US rather than the land of sushibreaths) and begin your daily trip on google earth, you'll wonder where the four sushibreath islands have gone. "Sushibreaths are so smart they probably have carried their home elsewhere, like turtles and snails do, to dodge the chinks' nukes. They have enough technology to do that..." you'll then go on to spend the rest of the day searching for any sushibreath remnant on the surface of the earth but will still find nothing at the end of day, nothing else but a better world with 127.6m yellow lunatics gone hell entirely

I was actually going to send some cash out there to Red Cross but never sent the envelope, I guess I figured things were under control. Though the reports of radiation maybe getting over to California are pretty scary. Fredo may not be the only thing shutting down the Lakers. Word. It was so bad that I sent my family home for 6-weeks. Didn't want to take any chances. Our military almost evacuated too. Of course working in the hospital, we would have been the last to leave (obviously).
What pisses me off is the Japanese government is not fully disclosing the extent of the damage and the radiation that their citizens have endured. Sad actually.

It's like when I was stationed in Washington state and California, tremors were commonplace here and there. This one was different.
I work at USNH Yokosuka Japan. The Navy sent several ships - including USS George Washington - out there to provide humanitarian aid. I did my part. {hand salute}
even as an asshole, one that you're doing your utmost to be, you're still no more significant than Joseph or De Colo is on the spurs roster.
And the miserable fiasco of you only demonstrates how much damage can be caused in one's brain by the parasites from the raw fish/meat one has eaten. Hope our goddess never ate no sushi shit while filming Lost in Translation over there, tbh.

Spurs came up short, painfully so, but it's better to go out with a bang than to go out whimpering. We didn't go quietly into that good night.
The Lakers? Not an ounce of fight in 'em. Nash in a suit. Howard smiling and getting sonned by the Shitbag. D'Antoni on the sideline looking like he lost his keys. Mitch, stoned face and clueless. And Kirby wasn't gonna right that ship. He's been whimpering ever since Nowitzki sent him home, 4 wins and 36 points short.

Losing 4 straight Superbowls is also pretty brutal. The last 3 losses especially make Norwood's miss all that more traumatic.

I was speaking of the 4 straight SB losses more of as a chronic pain than the gut punch pain of something like 6. Hopes raised and then crushed for 4 straight years.
Funny thing is, I'd take that any day of the fuckin' week than constant 4-12 type seasons.

Bills were the 3rd best team in football during their last 2 runs...Everybody knew the real SB was Niners-Cowboys. In '91 that Redskins team was unreal...started 11-0, finished 15-1 or 14-2, beat the shit out of all 3 playoff teams they faced. One of the most underrated seasons in NFL history. Clark and Monk were monsters that year. 1990 was our year, and we blew it. I blame Roger Craig for fumbling in the NFCCG:lol, cause the Bills would've beat up on SF in the SB

10 years old at the time, so I don't remember watching it, but that game is pretty infamous for how the Bills' went total war on the Raiders with a 51-3 beat down.
Even though blowouts ain't too psychologically painful, I'd still prefer a choke. Lowest point as a Spurs fan for me is still the '01 WCF. Seconded by Hakeem taking Robinson's MVP award away.

I don't mind blowouts b/c they remove all doubt--no delusions of grandeur or what-ifs? Still, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want the Bills heydays back--today was pretty nostalgic in that regard with the Reed HOF announcement. I take solace knowing that other teams suffered painful deaths around that time too. Houston Oilers had 3 straight gut-wrenching playoff losses in a row: the 21-3 choked lead to Elway and Denver (lost 22-21), the Comeback Game:smokin, and Montana takin' their cookie on the heals of an 11-game winning streak. Just brutal.

Not winning a single playoff game, or as I like to call it, the "Pau Gasol Special" has been done by many teams with inflated salary #'s. Not sure about the $100mil mark, but the Knicks probably came damn close a number of times without even making the playoffs. 2007 Heat probably spent about 75 mil give or take

Yup, and this little tidbit.
So, in his one meeting with the media each season, Buss uses the occasion not to talk toast their accomplishments but to announce that he’s turning the keys to the machine over to Jim Buss?Jerry Buss didn’t say a whole lot that day about daughter Jeanie and Phil, and his silence on their accomplishments speaks volumes.
Jeanie’s friends have been furious over the situation for some time now. They like to point out that Jim Buss didn’t even have an office in the team compound, that his big move has been to put his personal bartender on the team payroll.
As one Jeanie confidant explains, Jerry Buss is a misogynist who refuses to accept the idea that his daughter might ascend to run the franchise that he has owned for 30 years

With the departure of Jackson, Buss continued cleaning house, firing much of the Laker scouting department, including beloved assistant GM Ronnie Lester, who is often credited with the scouting of Andrew Bynum — yes, the same Bynum Buss hung his hat on.
He was the first Lakers employee to scout Andrew Bynum (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2748/andrew-bynum) back at the McDonald's All-American camp in 2005 and the loudest Lakers employee to recommend the chubby 7-foot, 275-pound high school center from New Jersey with the 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft.
Though Bynum is a grown man now, going into his seventh season whenever this lockout ends, when I caught up with him Thursday afternoon, Lester told the story of the first time he saw Bynum like it was yesterday.
"Coach Bill Bertka and myself went to watch him during the week of practice they had before the McDonald's All-American Game," he said. "He was just so big. … The first time I saw Andrew Bynum come out of the locker room, I pointed and said to Coach Bertka, 'Who is that?'
"He was overweight, chubby faced, chubby bodied. He needed to get in shape, but what a difference from the other high school kids."
Two months later he took a redeye to New York to watch him again.
"I didn't recognize him. He had lost 30 pounds," Lester said. "That in and of itself, that kid losing 30 pounds in two months, that was pretty impressive right there. You knew the kid would work if he wanted something bad enough.
"After the workout, I called Mitch … and told him 'If he's there at 10, I don't know how you can pass the guy up.'"

The fact remains JB did insist on drafting Bynum. What happened after that (JB's repudiation of Kobe demand to jettinson Bynum withstanding) is moot and without merit. What is keen is without Bynum we're short 2 NBA World Titles. Without JB we're short 2 NBA World Titles.
You can't rewrite history because bits & pieces don't match the story that you/Media have written for Jim Buss.
Solly Cholly.

Yet you keep referring to two titles that happened after that. Here is the truth cholly.
Lakers, Wolves reportedly in talks regarding Garnett
If the Lakers are trying to get Kobe Bryant (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3118) to change his mind about leaving, they're off to a good start. The Los Angeles Times cited league sources on Monday saying that the Lakers andMinnesota Timberwolves (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=min) are in discussions that could bring Kevin Garnett (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3007) to Los Angeles.
T
rade discussions initially involved the Lakers, Wolves, Pacers and a fourth team, and sources told ESPN that that team was the Celtics. They would have gotten Jermaine O'Neal (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3120)from the Pacers and sent young players to the Wolves. The Lakers would have gotten Garnett, while the Pacers would have landed Los Angeles forward Lamar Odom (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3327) and centerAndrew Bynum (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3936). Minnesota would also have acquired at least one of the teams' draft picks, possibly Boston's No. 5 in Thursday's draft.
Later on Monday, the Times reported that the deal in that form had fallen apart because the Celtics did not like their end of the deal. According to the newspaper, the Lakers and Timberwolves continued discussions, trying to broker a deal just between the two teams.
Sources told the Times, however, that Wolves general manager Kevin McHale is not thrilled with the idea of getting Odom and Bynum, even if they come with the Lakers' 19th pick.
McHale saved your ass.

Fans of the Lakers had nothing to watch, but I don't believe it hurts as much as getting a trophy snatched out of the case with 28 seconds left to close the sliding glass door.
